there's been some arguments over whether or not the scottish parliament should keep flying the EU flag after brexit day. one of the common arguments i have been seeing is "well actually it's not the EU flag it's the flag of europe which is also used by the council of europe?". this a dumb point and you should not use it. while it's technically true that is a flag of europe, it is really fucking obvious that we fly it as part of the EU and that the arguments over whether it should keep flying are proxies for sentiment in relation to the EU. i am honestly stunned that i have to even think about this kind of thing because it is so ridiculous. i am forced to conclude that the people saying "it's the flag of europe so why not keep it up!" are deliberately missing the point, because otherwise i have no idea how someone could miss the point this bad. while yes theoretically we could continue to fly the flag of europe as an indication of our desire to maintain close to ties to europe even outside the EU, this is really really blatantly obviously not the sentiment that the pro-EU parliamentarians of the pro-EU parties in a pro-EU legislature in a pro-EU country are trying to do.

It's far more difficult to extract rent from a fetus, though knowing GVH it wouldn't shock me if his anti-abortion stance isn't just a pretext for doubling the rent of pregnant women.

I wholeheartedly agree.

It's why I support extensive social welfare for single parents so that their babies do not grow up in poverty. After all, poverty kills.

Now, fetuses on the other hand, are a different issue.

A man starved to death after his social welfare stopped, so imagine that but multiplied by thousands of times if GVH's wish for welfare and the NHS to be abolished actually happened.
