No. 10 has ordered the Tory MPs to boycott the vote on the deal, and the Conservative benches have emptied.

The PM's taken his bat and ball home, it appears.

This one is a subtle job.
Bring back the exact same motion in the hopes they can squeeze it over the line. Except present it in a way to leave big feckin question marks over the thing at short notice.

Thanks.
That's quite strange as Snell has stated publicly, and smeeth has let it be known to her constituency party that on an actual vote on the deal they would be in favour.

Keep in mind that the Letwin amendment is "we approve of the deal, but we need to make sure we have time to implement it properly".

So no, voting for Letwin is in fact not "voting against the deal" in and of itself.

Notable independents voting with the government were Rory Stewart and Sir Nicholas Soames, notable ones against included Ken Clarke and Phillip Hammond.

Four Labour MPs, two Conservatives, and one independent abstained.

I like how Hammond voted for May's deal three times, but votes against this one which is identical to May's deal except that it gives the UK power to withdraw from the customs union at will rather than being bound to it forever.

Almost as if Hammond was .. in it for his career? :thonk:

So we enter unknown on Monday, with several possible outcomes. Kind of like a pandoras box no matter which point of view you hold.

The wheels on this bus will DUP DUP DUP until then, as I don't see any signs of them deflating...

seems like the writers might be seriously considering putting the DUP on team remain for the season 3 finale. very ambitious.
ask moderation about reading serious moderation candidates TGs without telling them about it until afterwards and/or apparently refusing to confirm/deny the exact timeline of TG reading ~~~ i hope you never sent any of the recent mods or the ones that got really close anything personal!

signature edit: confirmation has been received. they will explicitly do it before and without asking. they can look at TGs basically whenever they want so please keep this in mind when nominating people for moderator or TGing good posters/anyone!
