Not as scary as people think they are. I mean look at how they got here, they Played a depleted Nashville team that probably shouldn't have even been in, and didn't have the Juice in net.

Then they played st. Louis, who actually put up a fight, until Kadri broke Binnington. After that is was curtains.

And finally, They played EDM, a team whose entire ethos for the past I dunno six seasons has been to score as many goals as possible in lieu of playing defense. They scored plenty too, but they couldn't outscore Smith being an absolute sieve.

Notice the trend? Just about the entire top half of the eastern conference allowed less goals than the 3 teams COL had to face. The two remaining EC teams have the two best goaltenders in the world, on top of that the Rangers gave up the 2nd least amount t of goals all season, (behind Carlina who they beat). Tampa, not quite as well but still less than Colorado, and a lot less than anybody Colorado has faced.

Are the AVs good? absolutely. But they're way more gettable than people realize.

At the start of the playoffs I guessed the Stanley Cup would be between Colorado and Tampa, so I got at least 1 of those right. I was definitely not expecting the Rangers to be this good though

Another game where lack of consistency seriously affected the team. It's remarkable how Woodcroft has changed the mindset of the team, but there's need to work out depth and attitude when having a lead.

Colorado, though, it's just scary.

I don't think that they're invincible, just that they're Stanley Cup good, and that's scary. Tomorrow's going to be an interesting game. I'm also wondering if the short summer will be enough for players to recover, so kind of glad that NHL isn't doing the whole international hockey thing. When we have something like COVID changing schedules, the players' health must come first.

If he did then it probably would've been a genuine congratulations. Besides, if they learn from what they did right this season and capitalise on it, if not outright improve on it, then we should see them back in the ECF next year.

And considering they won 6-2 last night it's just a question of whether they were holding back their power or just needed to wait until they were on home ice to finally get going.

Anyway, a hearty congratulations to the Avs for lifting the Cup, a solemn commisserations to the Bolts for not getting their three-peat. Now here's hoping that Colorado does well next season just to prove that it won't be a flash in the pan.
