The senate is part of congress.

Congress is our bicameral legislature, containing two houses, the senate and the House of Representatives.

Again, I know. But in common parlance you have congress people and senators.

I honestly didn't think it would be contentious....but this is NSG....

That’s not really common parlance on our side of the pond. It would be confusing to a US native to use “congresspeople” but be excluding senators.

Congresspeople (or, more commonly, “congresscritters” or more generally “those bastards”) refers to both representatives and senators here.

New Kereptica: Since power is changed energy over time, an increase in power would mean, in this case, an increase in energy. As energy is equivalent to mass and the density of the government is static, the volume of the government must increase.

But the official titles are Congressman/Congresswoman or Senator.

Okay.

For the record I knew exactly what you meant and didn't need any pedantic clarification.
"...I have been gravely disappointed with the white moderate. I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in the stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Council-er or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who prefers a negative peace which is the absence of tension to a positive peace which is the presence of justice; who constantly says "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I can't agree with your methods of direct action;" who paternalistically feels he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by the myth of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait until a "more convenient season." -MLK Jr.

Okay.

For instance, if you go to Tulsi Gabbard’s website, she calls herself Representative Tulsi Gabbard, and she has a video of CNN interviewing her over the false missile attack warning in Hawaii, where they show her as “Rep. Tulsi Gabbard”.

That’s their official title, and how they’re generally referred to.

Congresspeople refers to both.

Titles
Representatives use the prefix "The Honorable" before their names. A member of the House is referred to as a representative, congressman, or congresswoman. While senators are members of Congress, the terms congressman and congresswoman are not generally used by them.

Weird, I’ve never seen it used in a way that excludes senators.

Anytime I’ve ever seen “congresspeople” used, it referred to both houses. But I guess some people use it the other way or it wouldn’t be on Wikipedia.

So uh...

Ok. I guess I’m wrong and that is an acceptable nomenclature. Although it bugs me as a matter of etymology.

Both the lower and upper house are a part of Parliament in the UK. The lower house are referred to as Member of Parliament, the upper house as Peers or Lords. But they're all actually part of Parliament.

And guess who the US framers based most of their system on?

Caesar thought the right to wear one of those whenever he wanted was a wonderful gift from the Senate. He was getting more than a little thin up top, you see.

It was wrong, dumb and stupid for my fellow Republicans to try to impeach President Bill Clinton for political reasons.

On Watergate I think the case was clear against Nixon.

The problem with saying that now is that at the beginning of Watergate, most Republicans saw it as a political hitjob. Only now with hindsight can one see that Watergate was completely justified. Clinton impeachment was definitely a hit-job, considering the lack of severity of Clinton's crime, but this, at the very least, is more than Trump lying about having an affair. It involves him actively abusing his power.

Impeachment is a uniquely Political tool, because it's not typically connected to a crime in the sense of a criminal breaking the law. It's more connected with the defense of society and transparency. One could be impeached, for example, for public drunkenness as their actions served to reflect poorly on government and society. I doubt that would happen now, but Trump's call represents one such threat to society.
