Well? Not for the US. After My Lai; the military took a hard stance against such things.

The fact he was isis is still against the rules. We like to think we are the “good guys” on the battlefield. They have those rules so it does give the enemy justification for killing our prisoners. Does it prevent it? No.

The fact that Trump also ordered medals that had previously been awarded to officers prosecuting the case further demonstrates his complete disregard for the rule of law and discipline in the military.

We don't follow the rules of war because the enemy does, we follow the rules of war because they control our own troops. Solders committing war crimes are unlikely to follow orders they don't like, create resentment and resistance from locals, give the enemy propaganda to use against us and otherwise hurt American war efforts.

Plus the President arbitrarily interfering in the military system only weakens that system.

According to leaked reports from within the Navy(and consider just how fucked up shit has to get for Navy SEALs to be leaking reports on one of their own guys), generally lost the plot. He'd park up his vehicle when on patrol, get on the MG and fire on villages for no apparent reason, just blasting till he ran out of ammo. He'd spend loads of time in sniper's nests, firing 2-3 times more often than any of the other snipers, several times shooting civilians, on one occasion shooting a teenage girl, who was just picking flowers, in the stomach. His own squad reportedly confronted him directly about his behaviour, and went over his head, but their superiors never took action, and even hinted that sailors continuing to report Gallagher could see their own careers suffer, probably because Gallagher has been highly decorated for bravery under fire. Eventually his squad decided that they would have to manage him themselves, keep him away from anyone he might hurt.

Before being sent out to Iraq Gallagher bought a big hunting knife to bring with him, which is apparently A Thing among special forces operators. The situation that lead to his court martial was when an injured 15 year old ISIS fighter was brought back to the base he was stationed at, and Gallagher walked up to the prisoner without a word, drew that hunting knife, and stabbed the boy to death. He then posed for pictures with the body, with the knife still stuck in, pictures he sent to his friends.

Despite this incident taking place in the middle of a military base, there were no witnesses somehow and Gallagher was acquitted of the most serious charges against him and convicted only of desecrating a corpse and demoted. Trump has now ordered him re-promoted.

At the very least he wants U.S. personnel treated like a Saw movie just to have an excuse to do the same to foreign troops.

An Opinion Piece: Trump and His Corrupt Old Party.

Essentially, the author basically details all the events that have happened on the Republican side in terms of corruption and how low they're willing to go. Read at your own discretion.

Good news, everyone.

Federal judge strikes down Trump administration's religious exemption rule that would let doctors not help LGBTQ people

A Trump administration rule that would allow medical personnel to discriminate against LGBTQ people due to "religious freedom" has been struck down by a federal judge.
U.S. District Court Judge William Alsup made a summary judgement Tuesday against the "Denial of Care Rule," which was announced by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) in May.

The rule was challenged in court by the city and county of San Francisco. Alsup is now the third judge to reject the rule, which would also allow discrimination based on a health care provider's opinion on abortion. Earlier in November, two judges in New York and Washington State ruled against the exemption. The Denial of Care Rule would have gone into effect Friday.

Although Alsup said that he "does not accept all of plaintiffs' criticisms," he dismissed the entire rule rather than limiting it in scope. The 32-page written ruling indicates that Alsup believes HHS had overstepped their authority in making the discriminatory exemption.

"When a rule is so saturated with error, as here, there is no point in trying to sever the problematic provisions. The whole rule must go," wrote Alsup.

Can't believe they actually called it the Denial of Care rule and not something like Protection of Freedom rule.

It's no surprise: he's desperate for a deal as he needs something to help his 2020 re-election, which is all he cares about at this point. After all, he did claim Hong Kong would be obliterated without him (he likes to pat himself on the back a lot) and a trade deal is potentially close.

At this point, it's what one values more: trade and strengthening the economy (with the potential long term effect of bringing liberty) or human rights and democracy.

The FISA Report will show that lower-leveled FBI employees made mistakes as the handling of the probe was unprofessionally handled by high-leveled officials but absolves there was no political bias against Trump by the likes of Comey, McCabe, and others.

The investigation is "proper" per say but says that the FBI and DOJ coordinated poorly with each other. The so-called altered document was actually because of an email altered by Kevin Clinesmith, a former low level FBI Lawyer, meaning the document wasn't altered itself but rather, "fixed" information was inserted without it being properly vetted. The report will also shoot down conspiracy theories drawn up by Republicans and Trump though both sides are to believed to cherry pick to embrace their side.

Oh boy, this is going to be a fun end to the year...
