In “With All Due Respect,” Haley said then-Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and then-White House chief of staff John Kelly told her that they were trying to “save the country.” Haley writes that she was “shocked” by the request, made during a closed-door meeting, and thought they were only trying to put their own imprint on his policies.
“Kelly and Tillerson confided in me that when they resisted the president, they weren’t being insubordinate, they were trying to save the country,” Haley wrote. “It was their decisions, not the president’s, that were in the best interests of America, they said. The president didn’t know what he was doing. ... Tillerson went on to tell me the reason he resisted the president’s decisions was because, if he didn’t, people would die.”

I feel though they'll turn then too "the Deep State is undermining our Dear Leader- I mean, President!" As we have learned, the Republican base doesn't care enough of Trump's ineptness . I mean, I'm told by some that if the government isn't running, that's a good thing.

I respectfully and strongly disagree with you: Let us hope the public is smart enough to see through the Democrats attempt to weaken President Trump politically with independent voters and the American People, and can read the between the lines.
A quote from the CNN Politics Article:
Democrats will battle to keep their simple abuse of power case from being corrupted by Republican attacks. They will try to turn the public against Trump by using witnesses drawn from political and military service -- like the current top US diplomat in Ukraine Bill Taylor on Wednesday and the ousted US ambassador to the country, Marie Yovanovitch, on Friday.

The Democrats are going to try and hurt President Trump by having career military and foreign service officials tell the truth.
There isn't anything to "see through" here, government officials will be sworn to tell the truth and then asked questions. The Republicans will have just as much opportunity to ask questions as the Democrats. If you don't like the answered they give the problem isn't the fact that they are answering the questions, but the fact that President Trump did something wrong.

Democrat Adam Schiff wants to block the Republicans from calling their own witnesses in defense of President Trump, and he has the power to do so. This will be Adam Schiff's kangaroo style political court against President Trump.

If Adam Schiff denies their witnesses Republicans can call for a vote of the committee, then all they need is a majority on the committee to call any witness. So no Adam Schiff isn't running a kangaroo court. (Never mind that this isn't a court but an investigation.) Now do you have a list of witnesses that Adam Schiff has denied and a good reason why those witnesses should be called to testify?

The Democrats have a majority on the committee and will block any Pro Trump witnesses they want to block. According to media reports, Republicans presented a list of witnesses to Democrat Adam Schiff and Adam Schiff rejected it. If this is true this will be Democrat Adam Schiff's Kangaroo style political court against President Trump on both counts, the committee votes and the rejection of witnesses requested by the Republicans.
I think the Republicans are going to have to hold live news conferences denouncing the Democrats and Adam Schiff's dirty political tactics.

Not to mention, Republicans did the exact same thing with Clinton in his impeachment: the Minority needed to get approval from the Chairperson and if denied, could bring it up to the committee for a vote. But the witnesses Republicans want to bring in are mostly distractions: The Ohrs, Hunter Biden, and others (seems they're pushing the conspiracy theory that the Ukraine, not Russia, interfered in our elections). There's only a few relevant witnesses like Morrison they want to testify. They also want the whistleblower too though that's not going to happen.
Also, it should also be noted as you pointed out that this is an investigation, which in this case, the House gathers the evidence and drafts articles of impeachment. This is really an indictment process; the trial happens in the Senate.

To mention the Democrats attempt to destroy Judge Brett Kavanaugh's reputation and high qualifications as a US Supreme Court Justice during the Kavanaugh hearings, which we went through NS World War 3 on the Kavanaugh Maga Thread and Kavanaugh won.
The witnesses Republicans want to bring up is to defend President Trump, and if they can prove Joe Biden and his son Hunter did anything wrong, it proves President Trump has a point on the Biden's and they should be investigated too.
Hunter Biden stated in his interview he probably would not have gotten the job at Burisma if his name was not Biden. The Kid as President Trump called him was paid at least $ 50 000 dollars a month from Burisma and doesn't know anything about gas. The Burisma executives, Joe Biden and the Kid as President Trump calls him, have played golf and I assume dined together at a country club, and they have never talked business, give me a break, an American expression.
Hunter Biden the Kid as President Trump calls him has resigned or was supposed to resign from a major Chinese Corporation on Oct 31 2019. Has traveled with his dad on a US government plane to China, and they have never talked business, give me a break, an American expression.
