1) 45% of fighters being from each others' group is definitely extremely close ties.

2) The Kurds were firing indiscriminately, the Turks just were hitting military targets in civilian areas. The Kurds weren't shooting at a military target at all. The YPG is known to shell indiscriminately, as I've shown you with sources before.

There wouldn't have been too many in Katanga, given it was overrun in 1963. Most of them were British, Belgian, and French. Tshombe's final run on things also ended in 1965, despite saving the DRC.
