Which isn't any better, shockingly enough. Asking invading forces to mind the rule of law is a chickenshit response to war crimes in action.

You do realize that the US has been fighting to keep a very oppressive group of people from reconquering Afghanistan correct? And what do you expect AI to do? Send an army to stop violators?

That's in Raqqa. The YPG erected that Ocalan billboard to remind their Arab subjects who was boss now.

Ocalan is the most interesting and educated terrorist leader I know of, but the YPG cult-of-personality around him is creepy, and I have no trouble envisaging why Ergodan wants to break up the cozy little sanctuary they have just over his border.

I like how the Kurds can get away with recruiting child soldiers and drug trafficking because reasons. Also iirc they used to just straight up kidnap people and force them to fight for them. The good ol' press gang.

I'd expect a response that explicitly condemns an illegal invasion, for starters.

Rojava is built around Ocalan's vision of Democratic Confederalism. That's why they adore him. Simple.

But like other people virtue signaling about it you're contempt with doing just that so long as your actions don't require going anywhere or doing anything about it.
What would things have been like if every security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive? Or if during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand? The Organs would quickly have suffered a shortage of officers and transport and, notwithstanding all of Stalin's thirst, the cursed machine would have ground to a halt!

Asking both sides to mind civilian casualties when one side has objectively been fighting to save lives and the other is only fighting for conquest and slaughter is a load of callous bullshit.

I mean...yeah, the Kurds have been helping us against ISIS...but it doesn't mean they're perfect angels either. Now, should we utterly abandon the people helping us fight ISIS? No. But the story's not all black and white. That's just the tragedy of it.

To Torrocca so long as they're Socialist, they're automatically better than the Turks, never mind the atrocities they committed themselves.

If people are expecting the West to stick its dick into the situation there better be some pretty solid proofs. And no, civilians dying in normal combat operations doesn't count.

I wonder where all of these people were, raging for the West to send boots on the ground for Darfur, or Myanmar, or the Bahai's in Iran.

My mistake was the language I used and the anger.

It's okay. We have to try and do what we can ourselves...which in this situation is not much. What will probably happen is more skirmishing between Turkey and the Kurds, which is not anything new, but now they'll just chase them to new territory.

Because I don't want a genocide to happen, that obviously means that I think Kurds are naturally better than Turks. What an absolute bullshit line of thinking. Not that I'd expect anything better, considering you're more concerned with bitching about "virtue signaling" than this atrocious invasion of Northern Syria at the hands of Erdogan's regime.

It can get tiring keeping up with all the 'ists' and 'isms' in this thread and the surrounding subject. Still my sympathies are with the kurds as like I said before, they're one of the few factions there who aren't jihadists, Iranian puppets or the Syrian government; that and they were doing the hard work fighting ISIS on the ground.
