Nope. If anything I support US selling it to Japan. Japan should own Hawaii and in fact Palau, Truk, Marshall Islands etc too.

If they do, it is because of existing economic realities and perhaps institutionalized racism, but race is an unquantifiable and inobjective concept that has no scientific backing or place in reasoned conversation as anything other than a societal construct, if you are implying that they are somehow more intelligent or determined because of their ancestry and "race."

I don't support monarchy, but they were unfairly annexed for the sake of American corporate interests. The history of Hawaii is intriguing. I don't believe that States can leave the United States without the consent of the rest of the Union, for better or worse.

Tbh, I'd be okay with giving Hawaii autonomy. All we really need is the military base, so we can just lease that from them.

The US only has a couple of precedents for relinquishing territory, and all were slight border adjustments with Mexico and Canada and governed by international treaty.

Japanese Hawaiians are more established and came from a distinct social class back in Japan. I wonder how they compare to Japanese Americans generally.

They are from basically coolies not very different from the currently overperforming NE Asian folks in Latin America.

P.S. I enjoyed some nice Tanimura & Antle romaine lettuce today. It has a nice Japanese story behind it.
