Too much value, not enough gold. All the gold in the world stacks up to about half the GDP of the US in value. We'd need to get a lot more gold for it to be possible, and even then, it probably wouldn't be a good idea.

The troubles down there wouldn't exist if the Philippines tried what China has been doing to Tibet for decades. Import as much of the national majority as possible, and displace whatever is keeping that island different from the rest of the Philippines.

historically speaking the fifth column was us rather than the people of mindanao, as they were functionally independent from spain for centuries and only submitted to american rule at the turn of the last century
but even if you go forward in time post independence, it was lamdgrabbing migrants from luzon and visayas supported by previous admins (especially marcos) that lit the fuse, otherwise we would've been happy enough to coexist, the way we do now that most of the violence has died down
what muslim-instigated violence that now happens is due almost exclusively to imported ideologies, as with daesh
the muslim majority in mindanao, though fairly conservative by western standards (and fairly liberal by asean standards), wants nothing of the islamic state or its bullshit

What ever happened to LittleKuriboh, anyway? I tried searching and I got jack (pardon my language). I even tried sites like the Farms, but there's not much there except how LittleKuriboh occasionally relates to internet drama, and lots of it is outdated.
