I used to think that but tbh when you drop your sugar and salt intake for awhile and then try stuff again, it often doesn't taste very good. It's more we grow accustomed to it as we grow up.

And I mean if people want to gorge on donuts and chips all day they can, but they should have to pay extra in tax. Smokers are expected to pay more in taxes, so why shouldn't the obese? Especially those who have the means to not be obese?

Could you get the voters to agree?

Part of it I think also is nobody really knows how to cook anymore.

^This, tbh. Fruit tastes really good if you actually eat it in any quantities. I recommend apples as a good starting fruit.

Fuji apples are freaking amazing!

That article on classes how to be an adult by Genivaria was an excellent start to how to address this tbh.

Certain outdated medications should also be slowly phased out as they lead to significant weight gain.

It's just bad for our overall health in general the amount of sugar we consume. It's a losing battle for your oral health for example. Even with brushing and fluoride, tooth decay is a major issue simply because of the amount of sugar that is consumed. Something like 91% of all American adults 21-64 have cavities or other tooth decay.

I have family that deal with hypothyroidism and eat far less than I do and yet they retain over 300 pounds.

Sorry to hear that, but I'm not talking about people with health disorders that keeps them from losing weight I'm talking about people in general who are able to lose weight but won't because they're too fucking lazy.
What would things have been like if every security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive? Or if during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand? The Organs would quickly have suffered a shortage of officers and transport and, notwithstanding all of Stalin's thirst, the cursed machine would have ground to a halt!

Just cutting sugary drinks out of your diet will do wonders tbqh. I cut out just two sprites a day and have lost like 30 lbs in the last three months with no other changes to my diet.

Yes that is another issue. People either want to go out or have something quick. Part of the problem is a mix of the cost of ingredients (Even if say $100 lasts you two weeks, it's immediate cost looks far more significant than maybe eating $10 out per day, even though by the end of the two weeks you'll have spent $40 more). Another is time management which is a fault of both our own choices and the current economy where you are encouraged to work later and later hours and then have to continue work at home.

Yes, and it will unironically be good for those fat, smoking fucks who can't take any responsibility for their health for the sake of their families and loved ones.

So can vegetables. I eat bell peppers like apples. And pickled vegetables- cucumbers, okras, cabbage, etc- is delicious as a snack.

You are not wrong. 85% of Americans lack the appropriate number of essential vitamins. That is, 85% of the population in one of the richest countries on Earth and human history, are malnourished.

Then that's separate from what I'm talking about, though I do strongly support making extended PE classes mandatory in schools as well as expanding ROTC programs.

I showed this to TEM a while back but it still holds true.
Obesity is a National Security Issue

We need to take a hard look at what young people are eating and how their getting their exercise, because that influences their behavior later in life.

Indeed. Instead people do no physical work and then eat crap in huge quantities.
A policy of encouraging stay at home moms and homeownership would make a huge dent in our obesity rate.

The pity is schools keep cutting exercise and recess. It is viewed as boy centric and thus expendable time wise. Which is a very big pity. In my high school we had gym and a weight lifting class. We were all very fit. They don't seem to have that anymore as a norm.

Perhaps it would unironically. One thing I always notice returning from overseas, I break out when I eat a burger, that's how rich the food is here, until I get reaccustom to how processed everything is.

I agree with treating obesity as a national security issue. That way we can deal with the issue like the State Department currently deals with any group deemed a national security issue. Every fat person that fails to maintain an average of 10 000 steps per day for a week can expect a Hellfire missile from a Predator drone.
