Joker was pretty good. More of a psychological thriller than a traditional comic book adaptation. You should see it.

The media worked itself into a frenzy to fill space in a (relatively) slow news cycle. The film centers around how the poor and mentally ill are mistreated by society... ah, just see it. It's pretty gosh darn good.

His psychiatrist (a black woman) near the beginning of the film has to inform him about the department being cut, which raises questions how he will obtain his medication, and tells him that the rich don't care about either of them. Economic issues are on the nose throughout the movie and women are understood to suffer through these issues as much as the men do.

Soviet citizens could still belong to religion albeit churches suffered from discrimination and repression whenever they started to become popular. Recoveries take time. Putin is considerably liberal, when it comes to religious affairs; but its only been some 30 years since the Fall of the Soviet Regime and the overthrow of its State Atheism Ideology; religious recoveries take time as well; and considering that Russia is rebuilding churches everywhere, I think that says a lot. Of course, a lot of the older generation is attached to the old Communist ideology to some extent; but as they die off, I think we'll see more sincere Orthodoxy. These type of things usually take a few generations to reverse; and at least they're TRYING to reverse. America and the English-speaking World is full-steam ahead into Sodomy, Secularism, and Moral Decadence.
