the one thing I also noticed about this "plan" was that what happens when the registered user has lets say a theater, school, office building, etc with a mass gathering of people well within the 1000ft range and that owner just happen to lose it?
or what if people jerry rig a contraption using multiple routers or a signal booster to send and receive the WIFI signal at a much greater range?
plus why would people buy these types of guns in the first place they could always buy on the black market or smuggle guns from places like Mexico or S America and Europe or just build one at home w/o the wifi bs mumbo jumbo

This and gun control are linked, because they both hinge on the human preoccupation with death as a tragedy that must be avoided. The 5 victims of the mass shooting were just 5 of the many thousands of people who die every day: in other words, irrelevant. A better question is, why was abusive guest behaviour not addressed before this shooting ever happened? I can't imagine this is the first time someone rented a house to host an unauthorised party in it.

I don't really think this news story is all that relevant to the issue of gun control in general. The biggest thing with regards firearms control seems to be that statement from the Governor of California at the bottom of the article.
