Correct, that's what the last paragraph mentioned.

It was also a terrible reference in a slightly edited version of ET when the FBI agents had their shotguns replaced by Walkie-Talkies.

Still doesn't make sense. Erring on the side of liberty would entail the security detail to remain armed, as well as the people they are charged to protect.

Thats my point.

The TRO would have been unnecessary, as he would have been in jail facing felony charges (which would have temporarily removed his right to possess firearms).
Gun control is like trying to solve drunk driving by making it harder for sober people to own cars.

A felony would have destroyed his career entirely. The TRO was the least harmful alternative. Seems a kinder approach.

His ex wife was anything but kind. If she could have ruined his life and career with a false accusation, she would have. In fact, she tried multiple times.

No, she didn't get arrested. She dropped the TRO before she could be charged with perjury. And she was living with her parents at the time, with no job that any of us knew of.

Let's compromise: you surrender your guns to the authorities based on mere accusations, while we get off with committing perjury scot-free.

Did he ever try filing a defamation suit against her or anything?

I don't know if he ever investigated that, but I know he was trying to move on with his life. There was also his son (who she had custody of) to consider. She didn't have had any problem with using him as a weapon against my uncle.

Better compromise. When an accuser gives a false allegation looses their right to vote/drivers license/1st Amendment/life time of indentured servitude.

It's getting to the point where the only acceptable compromise is "you don't try to take our guns, and we don't use you to buttress the wall when it's time to build the Big Igloo".

To me, it seems to point out that with only someone's word and no supporting evidence, a person can attack another person's life and rights for ANY reason.

What would things have been like if every security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive? Or if during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand? The Organs would quickly have suffered a shortage of officers and transport and, notwithstanding all of Stalin's thirst, the cursed machine would have ground to a halt!

Well after all with a stupid gun control name like "moms demand action" it's the first image that comes to mind, one of a middle aged, suburban moms bored, sexually frustrated and needing a good dickin' from the pool boy.
