I have never understood American mentality towards guns and I highly doubt I ever will.
This post shows an immense misunderstanding of asymmetric warfare. Al Qaeda never has been a militarily powerful force, you don't need to be to win a guerilla conflict. The vast majority of the US militaries arsenal is useless in a conflict like that.

I still highly doubt that any American militias have such skill.
Plus, Al-Qaeda, 17 years on, have not taken over the Iraqi government.

The votes aren't there. Any gun legislation is off the table until 2022 at least. I did expect the GOP to retake the House then but given the party is in active and rapid collapse I don't think that's guaranteed anymore.
In all honesty if one of these bills passes then a second March on capital hill is warranted.

What "skill" lol. AQI's tactics consisted of sniper attacks, bombings and shootouts. You don't exactly need to be an elite operator to do any of that.
No they never took over the Iraqi government, but you know what they did do? Outlast the United States military. Iraq today is still a militia fiefdom dominated warzone nearly 20 years after we invaded and occupied the country. All that high tech gear and equipment in the end couldn't beat civilians with small arms who were determined.

I still don't see how this is relevant in the US either

Because your original post implied that civilians with small arms couldn't come out on top against conventional military forces which is a position that ignores the last 50 years of armed conflict. Even a small group in CONUS could easily cause billions of dollars in damages and inflict vastly more pain to the state than could ever be inflicted back on them.

"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."
The 2nd Amendment states "Arms". Arms does not just pertain to firearms. Arms pertains to weapons in general. Explosive devices are weapons, artillery pieces are weapons, ye olde shillelagh is a weapon.

That depends entirely on your personal views really.
cos the idea of tyranny is so vague when a nut says 'oh no i need to keep all these guns plus stop local authorities from knowing about it to rise up against TYRANNY when it comes to America' plus it sounds like its being said by a conspiracy theorist.
almost sounds like a more moralistic way of saying 'i like my guns i want to keep them'

'arms' includes nuclear bombs by that logic
