You're assuming Republicans won't do something they're good at and suddenly sell out allegedly conservative values along with freedom.

They're not gonna vote for it with all the NRA money they get.

The party has changed drastically since then.

No? There are still democrats in pro gun and vunerable districts. Not many, but enough to basically fuck any chances of the reinstatement of the AWB to death.

Each AWB that has come up since 2015 or so has had near total support in the House and only obvious exceptions like Manchin in the Senate.

I’m personally against gun control in principle since it creates possibility of a dictatorship appearing. At the same violent felons and people with certain mental illnesses shouldn’t be allowed to possess weapons.
Welcome to the Nekostan-e Gharbi. Our ancestors were a group of genetically enhanced Israeli cats raised by two Iranian Jewish women, Rachel Davidi and Esther Moshel. We are a constitutional monarchy where a line of benevolent and powerless feline queens “guide” the citizens or more precisely are the subject of their constant gossiping.

Well i it passed in the house it would be by a razor thin margin and certainly wouldnt pass the senate even with a tie (republican 50+manchin = 51).

You are right about that. The Republican Party actually has more internal conflict and division (despite what leftists say) due to sellouts and principle sacrifice. I used to lean more Republican years ago but that party has just become a combination of a three ring circus and an auction. But to me, the Democratic Party and their mid-left to far left majority just doesn’t line up with my own beliefs. So... libertarian it is for me.

Seriously though, so many Republicans that shake hands with and stand beside Trump have had under the table and back room action with Democrats in the past that they don’t want getting out. I say that metaphorically but then again this is politics soooo...

They don’t care about the NRA’s money so much as they care about the votes of single issue gun owners. If they think they get a poetical advantage by selling out gun owners they will.

Pro-gun Democrats are so much in the minority they effectively don’t exist.

I doubt you could drive a tank, or any treaded vehicles, on a public road as far as I am aware. Now armored cars, such as, say AML-245 or even a Humvee Hawkeye, vehicles such as a BMP-1 or such are no-gos.

Nah, rubber pads on the tracks and you're fine

M3 half-tracks regard theirs as radial-ply rubber tires.

M8 Greyhound with a TOW launcher or bust.

That's assuming most of NRA's funding actually went to lobbyists.

Usually it goes to informing the public on how not to shoot themselves... at least not accidentally. Oh, and to remind politicians to please be quiet and educate themselves on a subject simple as "how boomsticks work" before making an official speech as a public official presiding on the issue.

I mean, if you're gonna self-appoint yourself as expert enough to tell other how things ought to be done... please at least have some practical experience in that regard.

The Kegresse tracks on halftracks are basically giant rubber bands, when you stop and think about it they're essentially oval-shaped tires.

I'd love to get my hands on the M38 prototype with the Chaffee turret...

Good news, BATFe (ARBF) backing down on arm braces.
BREAKING: ATF Backs Down, Withdraws Guidance, Comment Request on Pistol Brace ‘Objective Factors’ Classification
...As of this evening, more than 48,000 comments had been entered in the Federal Register objecting to the arbitrary and subjective nature of the ATF’s proposed classification of pistols equipped with stabilizing braces.

Yesterday, 90 members of Congress sent a letter to ATF Interim Director Regina Lombardo noting that the ATF’s proposed guidance was anything but objective and could put law-abiding Americans in potential legal jeopardy.

But TTAG has learned that the final straw that persuaded the ATF to back down and withdraw the guidance was serious pressure applied by Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell. A call took place over the weekend involving a number of firearms industry companies and McConnell’s office.

McConnell’s subsequent involvement in the matter, along with fast and furious (to coin a phrase) activism from the gun rights community in opposition to the ATF’s proposed move were what resulted in this evening’s win.

More details may be revealed over time, but this is an unqualified victory. One that many in the gun rights community likely weren’t expecting given recent news surrounding the ATF’s appetite for more firearms-related regulation in advance of a Biden inauguration.

This, however, is just one win in a larger battle to protect Americans’ Second Amendment rights. A battle that is never really won and will surely require more participation from gun owners in the weeks and months ahead. Stay tuned for more as it becomes available.

My local group (of around 2k) also has sent letters/emails/phone calls to trump with guidance/requests to fire the administrative officers within the BATFe(ARBF) especially those who have met with biden and his team.

If I had to hazard a guess, I'd say the local LEOs aren't too pleased at the prospect of being used as cannon fodder for the enforcement of unconstitutional "laws" and are letting the ATF know it...

Ohio has joined the other 36 states that have a stand your ground law.
Ohio Governor DeWine Signs Bill Eliminating ‘Duty to Retreat’
In a surprise to many, Ohio Governor Mike DeWine actually signed a bill eliminating the duty to retreat for Ohio residents. Previously, the right to armed self defense had been limited to a person’s residence or vehicle. Under the new “stand your ground law,” Ohioans have the right to defend themselves against threats of death or serious bodily harm anywhere they have a legal right to be.

The votes aren't there. Any gun legislation is off the table until 2022 at least. I did expect the GOP to retake the House then but given the party is in active and rapid collapse I don't think that's guaranteed anymore.
