So Clinton put Trump, Carson, etc... forward as part of the "pied piper" strategy, thinking she could beat them. She was wrong.

Clintonites had forsaken anything resembling a consistent ideology in favour of the half-baked half-measure that was centrism, thinking being more "centrist" would win over Trump voters. They were wrong.

Now they're telling us Sanders' socialism will scare off "centrist" voters, as if anyone could take one look at the product of capitalism that is Trump and want MORE capitalism. What does it take to make such people shut the hell up forever? Or for the rest of us to tell them to do so?

How do we know this? Because the first step toward Communism is Socialism, and none of the aforementioned are even remotely Socialist in any way, shape, or form.

Sanders leads in Iowa, post Warren sexism allegations. Showing he may of left it unscathed. Both campaigns tried their best to back-down and cool tensions. Bernie has also been hammering Biden on Social Security.

Buttigieg rises and tops Biden for a near second. Warren now in 4th with 15%.

Trends since late October: Sanders +6, Buttigieg +0, Biden +0, Warren -7.

Neoliberals have been losing to Republicans ever since the rise of the Tea Party in 2009 and their subsequent victory in the 2010 midterms. They've been losing for 10 years and when they do govern, they make such a mess of things that right-wing reactionaries thrive in the discontent. Apparently they never learn their lesson.

Judging by those numbers, Warren's lie seems to have backfired hard on her.

Trump was basically corporate America disguising itself as an enemy of corporate America to con the poor into voting for another oligarch.

It's one thing to wonder if people might be racist to you like I sometimes do. It's another thing to actually label them racists for sure

Maybe people don't like her cause she's hispanic...or maybe because her green new deal has a lot of issues, or maybe because she's cool with the woke crowd, or maybe because she bashed trump. We can't know the exact reason for 100% of her detractors but I guarantee you it isn't 100% because of racism

And yet Clinton lost the election in the midwest and Rust Belt, not the bastions of progressivism. And in a year with record turnout and youth support, Democrats took back the House with a bunch of 'Clintonite' establishment candidates, while the Progressives managed to replace a few Democrats in safe Democratic seats.

Progressives pointing to Democratic losses as proof that they should be leading the party is the equivalent of me saying that since I've never lost millions of dollars, I'm obviously better at managing money than Warren Buffet. Except that, you know, I've never had millions of dollars to lose and don't have a net worth of 90 billion, in the same way that Progressives have never had any power to lose, and have yet to demonstrate an ability to turn internet enthusiasm into actual votes.

We often tend to forget that there are people who are old and don’t use the internet much, and as of 2020 they’re still the majority of America. Yet I think internet enthusiasm will become more and more of an accurate indicator as we go into the future.

It was the internet which you could say “saved” conservatism, since many zoomers are enthusiastic about Pepe, Ben Shapiro, Steven Crowder, etc.

Not really. Zoomers are as socialist as Millennials, if not more, on social and economic issues. It's just that right-wing zoomers are becoming more and more radicalised, and the centre-right doesn't really exist in zoomers anymore. As a zoomer myself with zoomer friends, most of them are socialists, and so are most of the zoomers I encounter. Being right-wing seems to be a thing of later generations that I've met, as opposed to zoomers.

But then again, I'm British so this may not be accurate to America.

Gee, it's almost as if populism like that of Sanders appeals to progressives and working class "our jobs have been shipped overseas" types alike.

Didn't Obama do better in those regions than Clinton did?

Myrensis wrote:And in a year with record turnout and youth support, Democrats took back the House with a bunch of 'Clintonite' establishment candidates

Probably because they stacked the deck against Sanders-types just like they did in 2016.

Well, yeah. Progressive countries like Norway manage their money rather well.

Tell that to Obama. In 2008 he pretended to be a progressive, and the result was literally defeating a war hero in a general election.

It also depends on where you live. Being in South Florida where Spanish is the first language and Cubans are everywhere, there is near unanimous support for Trump in my area. As someone who served in Iraq though, I get invited to share my experiences in schools fairly often, and many people come to school with Trump shirts and enthusiastically thank me for my service and stuff

Also, with the US, millennials are near unanimously leftist, while with zoomers, there’s much more of an extremist split between the 4chan memers type and the older millennial-esque ones, prominent Youtubers like Pewdiepie are also a big influence

Sanders: 25%

Yang: 3%

Sanders leads in Iowa, post Warren sexism allegations. Showing he may of left it unscathed. Both campaigns tried their best to back-down and cool tensions. Bernie has also been hammering Biden on Social Security.

Buttigieg rises and tops Biden for a near second. Warren now in 4th with 15%.

gonna start blaring The Internationale or some shit for the whole neighborhood to hear come February 3rd ngl

Some people think Sanders shouldn't be touting the endorsement, because Rogan has said some shitty things and had shitty people on his show and Sanders shouldn't be legitimising that, but on the other hand some people think it's great, because Rogan speaks to a lot of "moderate" Americans, people who aren't consistently ideologically left wing or right wing, and his endorsement will go a long way towards getting them to vote Sanders. The latter point sounds pretty solid to me, but personally I'm not familiar with the Joe Rogan oeuvre, so I can't really speak to the former point.

It's ironic that this discussion is happening now, when the Yang team pretty much attributes the success of Yang's campaign so far almost entirely to Joe Rogan.

So weird to me that people not in the Democratic Party can participate in their internal decision making.

Hey it could be worse. For awhile (at least in my state, and this may still be true) you had to be a registered Democrat to vote in the Democratic primaries but you didn't have to be a registered Republican to vote in the Republican primaries.
You can imagine how that works out.

She hasn't stopped being a thorn in the side of her party. She's outraised her house colleagues but instead of contributing to the democrat war chest which will help party members fight republican challengers is using that money to help other progressive socialists primary democrats which is forcing them to hold money in safe districts that could otherwise go to contested ones.

Obviously she's not going to help all, or even most, of the House Democrats. In most other countries, people like AOC and Henry Cuellar would belong to different parties entirely. The relationship between moderate Dems and progressives has only ever been a marriage of convenience, as the US has lacked any sort of progressive party since the age of Henry Wallace. Now that the populist wave has energized the progressive side, there's bound to be a lot of friction between those two groups. Her intention is precisely to be a thorn in the establishment's side and push the moderates out of office so that the progressive faction is stronger.
