I think that the government just needs to make the vapes less easily accessible to people who are underage. Vapes shouldn't be used just to be cool. They should be used to help people who are trying to stop smoking. The police officer at my high school told us about multiple people at the school who were/are hospitalized because of vaping.

If the police officer anyway told me that my lifestyle choices were wrong it's more likely to make me double down on them.

A lot of that is related to kids doing all kinds of crazy shit with their vapes. The solution to the problem isn't to ban vapes altogether anymore than the solution to mass killings is to ban all guns.

The fact that trump, the guy who constantly harps about gun rights can't see the hypocrisy really gives you insight into his mindset and that of A lot of people in our government. They pick and choose what they think can be successfully banned and what can't when In reality you can't ban drugs, guns, speech or vapes sucessfully. It just won't happen. Either you accept that or you make things hard on everyone

And yes I am mad. I have a right to put in my body whatever I want, and you have a right along with the government to stay out my business. You don't wanna vape? dont. How exactly do you expect this ban to work when our war on drugs which lasted for decades couldn't stop crack, meth, heroin and coke from flooding our streets? Big tobacco has every reason to get rid of e cigs, both to stomp out anything that could help a person quit smoking and because many e cigs are produced by small companies outside the sphere of the tobacco lobby. The tobacco industry wants to pump out as many classic cancer sticks as possible.

Link's not available here, but considering it's CR, I wouldn't put much stock in it to begin with.
Fact is, big tobacco knows full well where the wind is blowing and has been investing heavily in e-cigs.
Hell, Juul is largely owned by Altria (previously Philip Morris), one of the largest tobacco companies in the world.

As for the quitting smoking claim, there's still nothing but anecdotal evidence of it doing anything of the sorts on a scale that actually matters.
Which is exactly the problem when it comes to e-cigs. More often than not, (and I've hammered on this before in other threads) we simply don't know what the long term effects are, whether or not it's a good quitting aid, whether or not it's healthier than cigs, etc. because there just haven't been enough large scale, long term studies done.

I'm against the ban and I like to vape from time to time too, but people really need to stop pretending these so called benefits to it are backed up by anything substantial yet.
We don't know if it's any better. We don't know if it's any worse. Claiming one or the other as if it's an established fact is just irresponsible.

For me personally, it comes down to one simple thing, I like doing it, and I'm not hurting anyone else by doing it, so until some new, solid, and peer-reviewed research comes out that shows significant detrimental effects, I'm gonna keep doing it, but I'm not gonna pretend I'm not still sucking garbage in to my lungs.

Maybe some of us like the flavor. Maybe some of us would like it if you keep your nose where it belongs which is out of our lives. It's like talking to a child. you need big daddy government to come take care of you and tell you what you can and can't do, which not only stinks of some Peter pan syndrome but also displays a misplaced trust in the government to do the right thing.
