I suspect they don't really have a coherent, over-arching goal. They mostly seem to pop up whenever a contentious right-wing organization or speaker does does or whenever a local government or its agents does something that's not especially progressive. Loosely, I'd argue their goal is to suppress right-wing speech and promote left-wing speech, but that'd be a bit reductionist.

Antifa are like a bunch of drunk college students after a football game but they're that way all the time and they're a little more aggressive toward people. Overall, antifa doesn't require the feds to intervene as I'm sure local police can handle the out of control results of bad parenting. The reason they haven't totally been handled yet is cause certain police departments (we're looking at you jesse and ted. We're looking at you) haven't actually done something. I guarantee that their movement would suffer a catastrophic loss if the Berkeley and Portland PD actually arrested a bunch of them. you notice that's their two favorite cities to rally in, and it makes sense considering they're the least likely to be arrested there
