No. Tell me, where did I say that. I said the opposite in fact. Not all outrage is equal. Although I do find predatory business practices to be absolutely abhorrent.

Good. Then you will agree with me that attempts to define outrage outside of whether it's there and whether said outrage is warranted are futile, yes?

We can use that as a point of example. While I don't deny climate change, the media's recent coverage of the Amazon fires make it appear like it's the very worst case of forest fires in the history of the Amazon, they also started clipping incorrect statistics to make their point seem dire with their "20% of the world's oxygen", "freak fire/direct result of climate change" and "the lungs of the world" pitch added into it. And anyone who so much as point out such inconsistencies or state otherwise is immediately deemed a climate change denier or an anti-environmental nazi. Some who are aware of the exaggeration even insisted that it's "okay to lie for a good cause" which is very disturbing to me.

It has been proven by several left-leaning sources that the Amazon does not have 20% of the worlds oxygen

Hell yes and it goes for both right and left wing media. someone says something that certain people find to be uncouth and it becomes days of anger and fury. for example, remember when it turned out joe Biden opposed inter district busing in the 1970s? I remember several news sites ran with it like biden supported the Nazis or something. I'm no uncle Joe fan, but you're really gonna get angry and cry and whine over something a guy did in the 1970s? That's major news? People are dying in Iraq right now and what are days of media coverage devoted to? Biden opposing inter district busing

I remember also that when trump was running the media really homed in on when he called mostly poor black neighborhoods ghettoes. While i can't stand Donald trump and think he's a jackass, he wasn't being offensive calling those areas ghettoes. Take it from someone who lives in one of those areas, no one here calls it a "low income neighborhood." It's the ghetto, the hood, the bad side of town, the slums. It's not offensive if it's true.

there also was the time ilhan omar called notre dame art and architecture after it burned and a large amount of conservative commentators called her statement disrespectful and offensive. 100 commentators were triggered and the other 7 billion people on earth couldn't understand why

The difference is most of the time the people who call Trump the God emperor or worship his meme-worthy shenanigans are not actual Trump supporters. In fact, I think the majority of online and some irl Trump fans are "supporting" him either to A. Trigger the anti-Trump populace and B. To participate on the chaos of the political climate.

People like Rachel Maddow, though, are sincere in their outrage even to the point of it feeling like a parody to viewers, they are dead serious, which makes triggering people like them enticing to trolls. They actually believe that every single online racist comment and threat is from actual white supremacist, neo-nazi russian bots and using it as "proof" that women/minorities should fear for their lives and be cautious about anyone who so much makes a joke about it as suspect.

There are problems, and they tend to be ignored. Thus, now that the political situation worldwide is so inflamed, people who do see the worms in the wickerwork want those problems fixed by any means possible as soon as possible.

Not saying it doesn't have undesirable side effects. But better this than people ignoring or even actively denying there are problems that urgently need fixes.

Many media groups also corrected themselves on these. Outrage sells papers, but that doesn't mean that either the media or outrage is bad.

Exactly.

There are small problems that get overblown by people who have a need to start drama and outrage when little to none exist. The whole manspreading argument and defense of such is a perfect example.

Well that's the main problem with outrage culture. The media fosters and encourages this emotionally urgent indignancy to the common viewer who takes it at face value and sees direct threats where none exist and those who know better become more and more alienated to the community that overreacts to every single issue.

One can only endure the constant hysteria and alarmism from family, friends, colleagues and the mainstream to the point that they get tired and tell them to either shut up or point out how panicking or being emotionally invested and shoving it down people's throats in said issues isn't productive at which point one becomes ostracized and accused of being a part of the perceived threat.

This polarization and tactless alienation is the main thing that's causing people to either wear the strawman's mask or even genuinely join the group that they constantly get accused as being part of, and this "confirms" what the hysterically charged group suspected all along and leads to even more outrage.

Sure, there's an outrage culture but reacting to outrage is even bigger. An article or video that says "X is racist" gets a thousand clicks or views, but then the article that says "Political Correctness Gone Mad, Being White is Almost Illegal Now!" gets a million clicks/views.

Everyone loves to come off like they're rolling their eyes at trivial outrage that they can plainly see is stupid, but they're actually foaming out the mouth to react to the outrage.
