I would become a lawyer.
The name's James. James Usari. Well, my name is not actually James Usari, so don't bother actually looking it up, but it'll do for now.

And from what I heard, if they decided that they need to cauterize or shut that wound off?

Boiling Tar.

(At least, that's AFAIK from a source or two).

So... yeah, those too. My previous point back to IM is... I would rather live a peasant life, knowing that I would be healthy, or I would just catch a disease that other people are getting so that I won't be shunned, or worse.

Maybe I'm making this into a horror story, and I appreciate today's accessibility more, but in those days? I think being wheelchair-bound would turn soooo many questions because they keep asking about the "girl on the cart", and that curiosity, knowing Annie, would have a witch-burning scenario, and there goes the neighborhood.

What’s hard knock mean?

There are lots and lots of Annies in this version. It’s about as common as “Alice” in the real timeline.

No musical yet.

Who the fuck is Alice?

The main thing we keep establishing through these threads is that you have a very Victorian view of the Medieval period.

A. Royalty in Medieval Europe was full of incest and genetic disorders (Half of the reason they're called Blue Bloods is because of rampant incest making them easier to bruise and having harder to heal wounds).
B. Almost no one got to experience those things because they were serfs and peasants who spent their entire 30 year life span tilling the land for the royal class, who only made up about 5-8% of the population and were the products of rampant incest.
C. Also way to forget the church and the massive stranglehold it had over culture and science back then.
D. No indoor plumbing, parasites, no internet, The Black Death, no cars or planes or trains, no electricity, no medicine, almost no spices, etc...

It's funny that GoT exists solely to point out how fucked up the Middle Ages were, and IM's takeaway is the Middle Ages were awesome and we should go back to living like that.

Annie, Annie, when will those clouds all disappear?
Annie, Annie, where will it lead us from here?
With no loving in our souls and no money in our coats
You can't say were satisfied
But Annie, Annie, you can't say we never tried
Annie, you're beautiful, but ain't it time we said goodbye?
Annie, I still love you, remember all those nights we cried?
All the dreams we held so close seemed to all go up in smoke
Let me whisper in your ear:
Annie, Annie, where will it lead us from here?
Oh, Annie, don't you weep, all your kisses still taste sweet
I hate that sadness in your eyes
But Annie, Annie, ain't it time we said goodbye?
With no loving in our souls and no money in our coats
You can't say were satisfied
But Annie, I still love you, baby
Everywhere I look I see your eyes
There ain't a woman that comes close to you
Come on baby, dry your eyes
But Annie, Annie, ain't it good to be alive?
Annie, Annie, they can't say we never tried

If that’s your metric then there is literally no time in human existence that isn’t “a good time to live” and this the label is meaningless.
