That is why I planned to pay all her medical bills, as long as I could use the her in promotional materials. Maybe wheel her around a few rallies where -- due to unfortunately heavy sedation -- she'd be unable to give any speeches (she seems likely to remind people that... you know, my character let her fall), but my character would be able to do all the talking:

"People of France, look at this woman! Look at what this corrupt country has done to her! If Leblanc could only talk, she would urge you to rise up against our oppressors, against the people whose system perpetuates these heinous crimes!"

it's not a great situation for sure

but not as hellish as others make it out to be

at the same time, I'd go for the option with the treatment probability because of course, I'd rather be able to walk

Setting aside the fact I’d be quite distrustful of my adoptive family, as that whole story is a bit fishy, I’d accept it. I hate monarchies, or anything of the sort, however this is medieval times, it’s really to be expected. Besides that, I see nothing wrong with it. I don’t really find it to personally be exploitation, as I’m being quite handsomely rewarded, and given the possibility of being able to walk again. I can’t say I see a downside to this.

Yeah, honestly, I would prefer my modern life than being the result of incest, being either weak and scrawny or fat, and then dying at the age of 23 because of a plague, war, heresy, or my brother-son backstabbing me with the help of my wife for political gain.

I can't speak to this scenario but were I the crippled lady's dad, I might be quite eager to have her married off or just taken off of my hands in general. This is medieval Europe we're talking about. Of course her primary value would be- how good of a baby machine could she be? Assuming she is too crippled to move much and is thus more of a burden to care for than a woman who can help on the farm, cook or clean, or whatever.

Later on, you may discover that you were the Witch Queen but you realize that you’re in a happier place now and decide not to return to war making. You have a new life and you decide to stick to this for the sake of your loved ones and you are happier for it.

This is like a spin on Sleeping Beauty. Instead of a commoner finding out later that they are an innocent princess, they find out that they were a magical mass murderer. There’s a period of coping but eventually they re-adjust.
