I should probably add in the OP that this isn’t a place to rant about capitalism but to discuss economic newsKowani wrote:An African Economic Union? Is this related to the East African Union thing?
No, it’s the AU, basically Africa’s version of the EU which supposedly has plans on adopting a continental currency like the Euro

Exactly, many people make that mistake, however, it does reflect the health of the economy to some extent. It’s really odd considering many times NASDAQ and Dow show completely opposite results, on particular days while their overall trend seems to always align.

The stock market is operated on a basis of mass hysteria in my opinion which always leads to skewed results... The president can do so much as say a naughty word and the market could collapse

Its a bit of a hyperbole but sell offs occur more often than not due to world events more so than anything else.... and people always buy into what they think will be the next big thing which causes over inflated prices that lead to yet another sell off due to company failure or worse... or at least thats the way I see it... The stock market is a strange beast but you cant deny the role of mass hysteria

You definitely can’t, but the stock market is much better than what it was even a decade ago on the topic of mass hysteria. If it truly was based on mass hysteria, all of Elon Musk’s enterprises would be dead by now
