We've all had one of those moments. you found yourself disappointed or in disbelief over something that just happened in your life and there's no other way to react to it than to simply shake your head or laugh. You can't believe the event just happened but it did and there's nothing you can do. We call these instances "bruh moments," in recognition of the only word that comes out of people's mouths when such occurrences happen within this reality.

bruh moments take many forms, ranging from disappointment to frustration to disbelief to shock, and while some people rarely experience such moments, others find that their entire life is a bruh moment. Today I wanna take a break from politics to talk about the very instances that call our entire existences into question. The minutes that make us question whether our lives are even worth living anymore. It's a phenomena that unites all people, whether black or white, rich or poor, right or left, male or female.

I will start out with a "bruh moment" that happened today when I was at work. I was at the cash register in the drive through handing out food and a woman pulled up and demanded that a butter packet be included in her order. When the consolidator failed to throw in a butter packet, the woman began yelling and complaining that her whole order was ruined and said that she had paid us to "GET IT RIGHT!" we of course handed her her packet and she immediately floored it and sped out of the drive through at 50 miles per hour. Keep in mind we deal with people like this every day. every. single. Day. you never become desensitized to how ridiculous and childish customers can be when one small issue arises. I guess manners aren't allowed at restaurants.

So here's a major bruh moment in my life. When I was 18 I dated this girl from Dearborn named Daz. We were together for a few months and then we broke up in december of 2016.

A year later a friend of mine called and claimed she killed herself, and we quickly organized a memorial service for her on the westside. Fifty people showed up and we set up a memorial for her with candles, photos and flowers in front of her house. Tell me why a month later I see her on Snapchat and when I text her, she says "I'm debating whether I should block you." This girl had someone tell us that she died and literally faked her own suicide. she's off in California somewhere now as far as I can tell, but we all felt pretty incredulous upon realizing we had a huge memorial service for someone who wasn't even dead

Two days later we were sitting on the deck of a houseboat listening to machine gun fire rage across the city.

So here's another bruh moment. When I was 16 I was in this group chat called merkistan, and we had this one really hot girl in it who had a crush on me. Her name was Heleen. I really wanted to hook up with this chick and then I found out two things within ten minutes of each other that absolutely crushed me

This is a bit of a reverse "Bruh" moment but I still laugh whenever I think about the countless times I've pulled a fast one in the food service industry.

Over the summer I worked at a Chinese restaurant. I am a South Korean who was born outside of Seoul and who has lived in the US for 20 years now. Every day I worked with three sweet Chinese ladies in the front of the house as a busser while they took orders. Part of my duties included bringing drinks out to customers and checking up on them after they had ordered/etc. What stood out to me was the numerous amount of racist people, ranging from grooving 20 something students to older folks. They came from all walks of life and it was pretty obvious that they were all across the political spectrum but they all were racist as hell if something went wrong.

The Chinese ladies I worked with in the front of the house speak English quite well but with an obvious Chinese accent. I on the other hand have lived in the US for practically my entire life and speak with what most people would call the "Missoura" accent. However as a busser I wouldn't speak very much until later in peoples meals to make sure everything was exceeding standards. If something would go wrong you could hear people mutter "Whats wrong with these stupid chinks/etc." and it would get on my nerves since usually their orders were correct and they just didn't get fast service because we'd be busy.

My boss was a man named Ming who I loved due to him being quite funny and very kind with me. He understood and spoke English quite well and always told me to be courteous with customers but that if they got very bad that I could shoot back a bit and be snarky. Anyways, whenever someone would direct one of their idiotic comments my direction I would spin around with the biggest shit eating grin on my face and my best Missoura accent and reply, "Excuse me sir/madam, I am actually from South Korea so that would make me a 'Gook' and not a 'Chink'. Please get your racial slurs right while I go and refill your drinks." Usually the look on their faces was priceless after I would tell them off.

TL;DR Racist customers get corrected on proper slur usage.

There used to be a guy with some loud motorcycle/souped up sports car who drove around my house at like 3 in the morning. Street racing used to be popular in my area, but I'm not sure if it still happens.

Anyway, one sleepless night I'm chilling in bed when I hear this guy drive by, or so I think. All the dogs start barking on the street and it takes me a while to go to sleep, though I remember closing my window to reduce the noise.

It turns out that time it was actually a police car and they had done a late-night bust of a meth lab that was running in a house on the corner of my block.

One time These two people me and my friend demecos knew had a breakup on Facebook messenger and then this dude threatened to kill himself as a result. He ended up leaving the chat and me and demecos were just sitting there for a minute dead silent before demecos said "man I wanna do some crack. Maybe my dad could get me some"

There's this guy on campus who thinks I'm his friend and whenever he so much as sees me, he goes out of his way to have long drawn-out conversations with me, even following me back to my dorm and going to places where I go on the pretense of hanging out with me. He has many friends, so I don't know why he does this with me and I'm not being mean by ignoring him.
