I find it incredibly strange that people buy bottled water at all when instead it's much cheaper and efficient to just buy some big ass 5 gallon jugs and fill them from the tap at home (before the hurricane comes, obviously). Keep those jugs in your home and you don't even have to go out into the grocery store insanity for every hurricane. But I was Florida born and my parents there since the 70's, we're hurricane savvy, a lot of people aren't.

How is the situation in the Bahamas? I just scrolled through the news but the most recent headlines only has 'people are waiting for the hurricane to strike' or something similar.

I happened to see vids of a storm surge hitting a house in the Bahamas. You can just about see the roof, hear people crying and pleading for help, presumably on the rooftop, and... just this sea of water...

Since it is taking so long to affect Miami Dade County and Broward County as a major Hurricane or as a Tropical Storm, if feels like it is not going to get here, is killing me, but it will. I think many persons in Miami Dade and Broward County think it is not going to be so bad for us, and what about the Keys.

According to what I seem to hear it will be considered a Tropical Storm for Miami Dade and Broward County, but I don't know what to think? What are the wind rates and storm categories for a Tropical Storm and a major Hurricane storm?

The whole country benefits from the military kinda unfair to claim the states the bases are located in get extra benefits.

Also before you mention the soldiers spend money remember most soldiers live on base so no rent or property tax to the local economy, also if the buy at the PX it means to sales tax for the local state either.

Military bases only really help the dive bar and tattoo parlor economy. Neither of which are the basis of Florida, Texas, and California's economy.
