How Do You Keep NS Exciting?

For those of you who have been around for a while, how do you keep NationStates from getting outright boring (excluding all the RP and regional stuff)? I created this nation after randomizing the political stats in the first part of signing up and what I intend on doing is trying the keep political freedoms, civil rights, and the economy the same as when I first started.

You keep ns exciting by either getting involved in the rp scene, a region with an active on and offsite community, etc. Alternatively you could always flesh out your nation through writing factbooks, dispatches, or similar material. Honestly you pretty much need to either get involved with the forum or an active region to keep the site exciting.

Do something on the forums—debate on General, play on Forum 7... Then you can write your own factbooks describing your nation’s politics, economy, culture, military... etc. You can also try to write your own issues or proposals... there’s a lot to do here.

Nowadays, the answer largely seems to be NSG.

It's extremely boring if you don't use General. No idea how there are F7ers and non-forum users who've been here for years.

Don't do NSG or even NSGP.

Instead, I almost fully devote my time to Trading Cards. There's a ton of things to collect once you start exchanging, and the (unofficial) Discord server's frequented by dozens of people, including the top-ranked players and some of the mods as well. Heck, even regular NSGers (such as Valentine Z) reserve a good chunk of time to dabble in this side of the game.

And yes, you can collect alcohol-themed cards if you're thirsty.

Building RP Material through Factbooks and Dispatches, partaking in RPs, discussing about real-life events in the forums.

The General Assembly of course! (GA forum is basically NSG watered down and some rp)

Pretty much this. Had I not discovered the forums in 2009, I'd probably haven't had it take over my life.

As a GAer, I contest this statement.

I keep it exciting by doing the trading card game and wasting my time on the forums (mainly General).

As a F7er myself, I say, that F7 actually is great for me to RP in, as it is more casual than International Incidents, or Portal to the Multiverse. Oh, and it also gives more place for you to develop your nation's lore, in case if you have something you want to write down, but don't want to post into a factbook either. (F&NI is also great for worldbuilding, tho.) Thing is, that I am there mostly for RP, not for debating, or inserting my views in a nation/character, so... NSG is kind of boring for me, imo.

NSG. With summer over lets see how long this lasts.

I made Inkopolitia because I wanted a place to live out an experiment where I combine 2 of my favorite things (Splatoon + Worldbuilding) together and see how it goes down. Nevertheless, writing stories is good. It makes you feel like you're creating a living, breathing world.

I keep it interesting by being an active member in my region and by contributing to it's community. Being part of an active region is the best way to make NS fun IMO.

The forums are ok but NS General is a dumpster fire, you'll find out why sooner or later.
