Whether or not people like this get elected is often not related to their views. It is often more about which social clubs she belongs to, which church she goes to, which school her son goes to. People tend to vote in blocks and create favorite sons or daughters and all vote the exact same way without even paying attention to what the person is saying. She could win simply because she belongs to the right in groups. This is how you get terrible candidates. They guarantee all the church member a job, a new roof for their social club, or which school football teams gets extra money for sports jerseys.
