Lol what? So while Bolsonaro is lecturing to us about how you should poop every other day to reduce emissions, he's letting people burn the rainforest for methane producing cattle? What a hypocrite.

Very much so this is alarming as it will accelerate the upcoming climate change fueled by man.

Pasture.

Also OP, Spain has wildfires every summer. Granted they're not normally on the Canary Islands but Spain, along with most of Southern Europe, normally catches fire during the summer months.

Yeah, we’re too late already. Might as well get used to warmer weather.

I know-I’m from Spain. But the Canaries don’t normally catch on fire, nor are they of this size.

Sadly so, though we could reap the "benefits" of this change by switching to renewable energy.

Certainly not worth it, like what companies do to peatland forests in my country. Turning the functions of forests for cattle-raising lands or plantations are maybe profitable, but not worth it if we compare it to the harmful effects they caused.

Cue the people complaining about how renewable energy is worthless and we can only have nuclear energy and nothing else.

This isn't necessarily a bad thing tbh, the burning of large pieces of natural ecosystem can sometimes be rather healthy for the ecosystems allowing for newer and healthier plants to rise out of the extremely fertile soil

Dunno, never been. Besides-my province is full of mountains. So…probably.

That assumes that the ecosystem present requires fire to regenerate and reproduce. Fire can be beneficial where it is necessary. Not sure about Siberia and other places with large tracts of conifer and pine forests, but the Amazon isn't supposed to be on fire, although wildfires in of themselves are not unusual and even expected in Brazil given there's a variety of biomes there, including dry ones.

Not when the area that's burning is the largest forest in the world that's being purposefully burned down to make room for cattle farming, which produces more carbon, methane, and runoff than most cars could ever hope to do.

Also, Amazon Rainforest destruction is reaching a point where it will be irreversible and will probably lead to the complete destruction of the entire place.

Well, Siberia’s Fire is due to illegal logging, so I don’t think that’s supposed to happen.

Yep, most of the islands are either desert or tropical, with plants that are used to dealing with extreme temps and weather.
