It wasn't a disorderly move, Salvini just saw that the polls had reversed and figured he could have a grand right coalition if he acted quickly enough, and the voters seem to be behind the idea.

Salvini is awful, horrible, but he's better than Trump. Because he's not a deranged psychopathic person with a God complex(I.E. Not to govern they can't. This was what Salvini was gambling on, and it's failed; his popularity won't be quite as high when the next election comes along.
