The Second Edition Pathfinder rules feel like a compromise between the "complicated" design philosophy of 3.5e and the "simplified" design philosophy of 5e, and while this works for the most part, some elements are clunky. As to the book itself, while the crunch is generally solid, the formatting is an incoherent labyrinthine mess that makes the game much much harder to "pick up and play". So while I prefer the 2e PF mechanics to the current TRPG juggernaut that is 5e, I ultimately think that 5e, despite many flaws, is better in many respects.
