I don't know the early French (Frankish) kings. I was in the Far East during the 8th and 9th centuries, then in Spain, then in Provence, you know, and I liked to move around. From the middle of the 13th century I was in England and Scotland. :)

I did, indeed. Decent enough fellow. I bought wine from his father, John, too. Funny Geoffrey being such a good poet and a civil servant at one and the same time. Met him through the Duchess of Clarence, Elizabeth de Burgh, the wife of Lionel, the Duke. It was a kind of whirlwind of connections in those days, and the people you knew made a world of difference.
