Peppa Pig, Bugs Bunny or Scooby Doo would also be possibilities.

How can people who tell lies not be liars? Is the inability to use the label liar a death knell to intellectual honesty?

Okay... how are those bans justified under the WTO... blatant protectionism. I mean with Winnie the Pooh it's censorship...

It's possibly somewhat related to this:
A mainland publishing official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said picture books from South Korea and Japan now had “little chance” of being published on the mainland, and permission for books from other countries would be “very limited”.

He said the new rule, only passed down orally, was aimed at making people’s ideas conform with Communist Party dogma.

Basically, internationally produced cartoons and picture books are becoming more popular in Mainland China than locally produced ones. It appears that it's pissing off the CCP.

It's probably more popular because it's not propaganda.

I'd certainly think so. The Forced Smile Time Family Hour doesn't exactly sound like my idea of viewing.

One mother interviewed strongly suggested that's the case:
[...]the mother of a one-year-old boy, who lives in Shenzhen, said foreign picture books were better at telling simple yet meaningful stories, with mainland ones being wordier and focused on teaching Chinese morals.

She said her favourite was a German picture book, Rabbit Without Ears and Two-Eared Chick, which told the story of how a rabbit and a chick developed a genuine friendship. She said the book was good because it was both interesting and instructive.

Last year I was in a reconstructed GDR classroom in a museum. All the original textbooks were there. The sheer amount of propaganda in them was astonishing. There was propaganda in every conceivable textbook: languages, engineering, biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, arts and crafts, history, etc etc. I have no doubt that the textbooks would have been a third of the size if they had left the propaganda out.

I can believe that (sounds like an interesting museum, BTW).

It kind of reminds me of some Christian curriculum textbooks I've seen excerpts from. Proselytising in every imaginable subject -- right down to taking a breather in an English text to pontificate on the god-given inferiority of women and the importance of always obeying your superiors.

Oii,
May I ask which city that has been in? It sounds like an interesting place to consider seeing whenever I happen to be over in the 'New States' next time.
Since Lillorainen's geography is currently being overhauled a 'tiny' bit, most information on it posted before December 12, 2018, is not entirely reliable anymore. Until there's a new, proper factfile, everything you might need to know can be found here. Thank you. #RetconOfDoom (Very late update, 2020/08/30 - it's still going on ...)

A mathematics question: If Ludwig the patriotic soldier is surrounded by five capitalist pig-dogs, and Ludwig is capable of gunning down three every half-second, how many capitalists remain after one second has elapsed? :p
I may return for somewhat longer than I was initially expecting. Why am I here? No idea whatsoever. I really ought to find some way out of this place.

Also, the NS stats don't reflect my RL views, just to clarify.

That with a few word changes was an actual question in a Nazi mathematics book from the 40s.

Mathematic questions in communist learning material probably went more like having to calculate how much fuel would be needed for a Red Army tank division during exercises, knowing how much fuel usually is consumed by a T-72 MBT per kilometer and the average distance driven by those glorious combat machines defending the Motherland during such events. Also keep in mind that these triumphs of Soviet engineering tend to burn more fuel when traversing rough terrain.

More fun then the maths questions my cousin made me help her, nothing but Fortnite and Instagram.

I remember lots of maths questions being about farming and the war in the Congo, but maybe I grew up somewhere weird.
