I think whether you should (as in being beneficial to oneself) have faith in humanity as a heuristic depends on your personality and background. I'm someone extremely likely to take anything people said seriously, hence "all humans are fucking wicked liars you shouldn't even bother to reason with" is a very good heuristic for me. However it is probably awful for others.

Philosophical amorality is also necessary to keep me from becoming a moralistic zealot and doing something crazy about things others don't actually take seriously or simply desiring to end all life since all life, human, animal or AI, are wicked as fuck because the fucking universe is dark as fuck.

This is a reference to the fact that religious people with exception of those in a few sects such as Shakers generally have more surviving children than atheists. The natalist effect of religion seems not very related to what exact religion people actually believe in. An atheistic universe can actually easily cause this to happen because in an atheist universe accurate religious views aren't selected for as long as clearly harmful religious practices such as eating cyanide aren't too common.
