What's your idea of a good dinner?

So I just got done eating dinner tonight after a 9 hour shift down at the drive through, with some broccoli and rice salad, two bowls of pasta and meatloaf and mashed potatoes. I'm probably gonna have indigestion later but right now I gotta say that was a great dinner. I'm someone who likes to eat well. I can survive off spam in a can if all else fails but damn do I love to pack the table full of food and just suck it all up like kirby. The thing is, everyone has a different idea of what counts as a "great dinner." Some people barely eat anything at all...ever! Others will literally eat a whole restaurant full of food for every meal and still want more. Also everyone's tastes differ as well. So I decided while I'm on the subject to ask the rest of you what your idea of a great dinner is. What do you eat for dinner usually? How much do you eat? Would you do anything different if you could?

Dinner? Now that's a name I haven't heard in a long time.

Jokes aside, I am fine with whatever. However, my ideal dinner is some well-seasoned chicken breast with a side of vegetables.

At home we experiment a lot with different cuisines. One day we have burgers, the other pasta, and the other I make chicken biryani (Indian dish) or beef bulgogi (Korean dish). It’s pretty much what we’re in the mood to make. And if it’s something we want to eat and enjoy, that turns into a good dinner.

Ideally, Chicken schnitzel with chips & gravy, and a salad on the side.

Usually, a combination of fish/chicken/beef with rice/pasta/buckwheat and cherry tomatoes.

Zarte Erbsen, junge Bohnen
Dürfen meinen Wanst bewohnen
Kälbchen, Ferkel, feine Lämmer
Und schon startet das Dilemma
Kleine Kitze, fette Küken
Und schon startet das Verzücken

Basil Pesto tastes weird.

I don't like tomatoes but sauces from them are fine.

We had a woman order a sandwich with basil pesto on it at my job and every one forgot for a second that we even had basil pesto cause literally no one except this woman wants it

A lot vegetables and some meat. Same as lunch, basically.

Nah, Kowani tastes like burnt steak.

A good dinner is something that includes bread and meat. Lots of bread and meat. That is the only requirement.

Oxtail probably. Oh, but melon ham on the side…and maybe some soft fries...

Sure, on its own. Now, then there’s sandwiches, burgers, pizza... ...and all of a sudden it’s quite a lot better.

Sounds like bourgeoisie scum food.

What does any of this mean?

I'm generally someone who likes to eat light, and with me for good its always quality over quantity that matters more. So good dinner to me can be a lobster ravioli, a lapin en cocotte, a sushi and sashimi moriawase, foie gras terrine, or small but well-made Dim Sum dishes like crab or steamed lobster dumplings or xiao long bao

Bread is fine if you don't mind giving yourself massive blood sugar spikes, I guess. :p

I didn't eat lunch today, so I'll throw this classy craving on here.

A well-seasoned ribeye steak, cooked medium rare to preserve its softness and garnished with parsley, with sides of well-buttered French garlic bread and roasted cheese curds that you would find on a platter, perhaps a scoop of mash or two or perhaps steak fries on the side.

I'd mention it being paired with a sweet sherry or champagne but I'm too young to drink, so I'll make an odd choice and pair it with 2% milk.

God's food, the stuff Abraham served to the Lord in the desert- calf (okay, fattened beef), bread, and cheese with wine or milk.

I ate pizza and tater tots tonight

I’m usually really concerned about my health.

I care 0 about my health if I need to do things (or not do things) to keep it up.

“Pizza and tater tots” is a perfect dinner for me.

Last night some friends came over in the evening, so I decided to cook up some food. They sat round the kitchen table drinking a decent red wine catching up while I lightly fried up some tuna in a healthy dose of Chiu Chow chilli oil before dressing in a tomato and garlic sauce and pouring over pasta. A light salad and an oven heated roll of french bread and butter and then we sat down and discussed the affairs of HK served with an enjoyable Soundtrack mix..

So, good company, good wine, good food and some decent music.. and a degree of ad hoc of a Sunday evening after a heavy downpour..

..lovely.

Sure. And then I get surprised when I feel like shit after eating 38 pizzas and running up to subway at 2:30 in the morning and mashing my face in tuna.

Fun fact: Today I had a tuna footlong for lunch, triple meat pizza for dinner, and nothing for breakfast.

That's all not good...except the last bit. You don't need breakfast.

But, to each their own. You do as you please. :)
