Because out-of-state far right groups found that they could milk exponential amounts of sympathy from liberals and conservatives so long as they kept kicking the hornet's nest that is the local anti-fascist activism. They won't stop even then. The murder of Heather Heyer in Charlottesville was entirely intentional. If you dont want it anymore then sit down with some politicians and law experts and start trawling what is legally possible to either directly or indirectly prevent the violent clashes or the whole ongoing demonstrations in general. For example there might be somewhere a law or regulation that explicitly bans covering of the face during public gatherings or to bring dangerous weapons.

Lastly separating the blocs from each other or moving them out of the city might also work, anything towards deescalation and snuffing out any possibility of action, which I believe i what people seek out. Make it plain boring, complicated and difficult.

My party chapter is. I am on the immigration and economics committees, so I'm doing what I can.

Its not like any decent individual would cover their face or bring dangerous weapons to what is supposed a peaceful demonstration. Any of those elements are by definition an indication that trouble and physical confrontation is either expected or even sought out by the individuals or groups in question. ;^)
