I have never seen evidence of violence toward uninvolved bystanders, antifa activists do not go out looking for random people to fight for the fun of it.

I'm so glad there's finally a thread on this extremely-important topic. The rise of ANTIFA is one of the most dangerous political and social developments in America in recent times. We've seen them attack and hospitalise a gay Asian man in Portland. We've seen them attack ICE facilities. We've seen them throw Molotov cocktails and slash tyres in Berkeley, smash the windows of Marine Corps recruiting centres.

This is a dangerous terrorist organisation, remorseless, sociopathic, they will not stop hurting people, they will not stop destroying and vandalising public and private property and making a mockery of American law. Lawless, violent anarchists who believe they have the right to hurt and injure everyone in their path with reckless abandon, and political radicalism is only going to grow, more people will join their ranks and wreck absolute havoc on the innocent in America. I think antifa is a gang of wannabe communist larpers who stand zero chance against real fascists and take out their rage on anyone who is to the right of stalin. They also have a good awful white savior complex and refer to minorities insultingly and paternalistically as "vulnerable communities in need of protection," as if we lack the means to defend ourselves. Overall I think antifa does a lot of harm to the actual broader cause of antifascism, and gives the fascists the persecution they believe they suffer. In the end they actually help the fascists cause. The best way to choke out their movement is to let the racists speak so every one can see how crazy they are. I wonder what it says that even as you describe antifa in the worst possible terms, not to suggest that I think you're being insincere, you also say that more people are going to join their ranks. Lawless, violent, and apparently quite popular.

While I can't stand antifa, I myself share your paranoia that this is a move to curb free speech rights. I don't trust any "security measures" of our government to be for any other goal than protecting themselves.

ANTIFA is less of an organization and more of a never-ending angry mob. They aren't "anti-Fascist" in the slightest, they're just radical Leftists who are pissed off at everyone and everything and feel powerless to do anything about it so they go around beating up people and vandalizing stuff to make themselves feel better. What are your thoughts on Antifa? Do you like them or do you hate them? If you don't know what Antifa is, their movement is composed of left-wing, autonomous, militant anti-fascist groups and individuals in the United States. The principal feature of Antifa groups is their use of direct action, with conflicts occurring both online and in real life. They engage in varied protest tactics, which include digital activism, property damage, physical violence, and harassment against those whom they identify as fascist, racist, or on the right. Personally, I don't like Antifa because they're violent, anti-American, don't know what they're talking about, is supposedly anti-fascist but do fascist-like things, etc. Oh and not to mention they beat up a gay reporter and gave a man brain damage.

Antifa, or anti-fascism, is not strictly an American movement. It is a worldwide movement dating back a very long time and isn't always militant as you lead it on to be. It's funny you call it un-American though when America, you know, literally fought fascism in WWII. Fighting fascism is still any good American's duty today. Non-violence wasn't going to stop the Reich or Imperial Japan. It was militancy and allying with the other countries that stood against fascism, from China to the Soviet Union, and from Great Britain to Free France that was, and did.

Honestly, today anti-fascism is needed more than ever. Nothing of what you said about them here is even true or at the very least relevant.
