While we can all agree that colonialism is generally bad, suggesting the Philippines and Cuba were the peak of civilisation is tenuous, to say the least.

Also, this is a phenomenon you're witnessing but not understanding. You see, when a country is the dominant force in its region or the world then other countries tend to adopt aspects of said dominant country's culture, mixing it with their own or just taking and adapting aspects outright. This causes people to believe that the dominant state doesn't have a culture and that it does nothing but steal other cultural aspects (Even people who live in the dominant state believe this), when in reality it's the opposite, the main country's culture has extended beyond its borders to such an extent that other countries believe the dominant country's culture is a part of their own.

Don't believe me? Look at what Rome and Greece did to Europe during their heydays. Or Japan, China, and Korea, who all share many cultural aspects that have also permeated throughout Asia and the Americas. Or Ethiopian images and symbols spreading throughout and becoming symbols of Africa as a whole.

What I see in this picture is the US and Britain intentionally forcing their colonies on a "path to civilization" that involves them forcing Barbarism, Oppression, Ignorance, Superstition, Vice, Brutality, Slavery, Cruelty, Cannibalism, and Corruption on colonized peoples, even though they could've just gone up the other side of the mountain and not done any of these things.

It's real perplexing in the US's case, cuz the territories they took were more or less "civilised" in the first place.

Eh, only in Cuba and Puerto Rico's case, The Philippines were seen as a land ruled barbarians who still lived in the dark ages and needed to advance and become a proper society.

So, uh, I went and retook the politiscales test since everyone else was, too, and the results are a bit interesting to say the least.

I'm thoroughly spooked by the 5% Nationalism and 5% Laissez-Faire bits, and even more spooked by the relatively low ecology score.

EDIT: Also went ahead and redid 8values and the full 9axes quiz (some of those fucking questions are way too open to interpretation on that one), as well as the dichotomy test on philosophy. I'm actually fairly intrigued by these results, in all honesty.

Because I'm an absolute nerd, I also went ahead and did the LeftValues test that I just learned exists, well after the actual discussion on these tests died off. Eco-Anarchism's a pretty valid description of my beliefs, ngl.
