I wouldn't want to give CoD to a five year old, but for people who are mature enough and want to handle depictions of violence, it's fine.

If violence is normalized by playing games with violence in them, I'm surprised that some teenager hasn't played Portal and tried to gas their coworkers.

I was a violent kid before I ever played video games. When I was in third grade, I got in some major trouble for a fight I had with a kid in my school. He threw a rock at me, so I stabbed him with a pocket knife. In grade 4 I got in a fist fight with a kid over a hole in the ground we were digging nicknamed "the mine." He wanted to eventually give up the idea but I was thoroughly convinced at the time that we were gonna Strike gold and be rich, so words were exchanged and it turned into a fight. I started videogaming in 5 th grade, and since then I had a lot of fights in school but that was just cause I was an out of control kid (and adolescent). I didn't really stop getting into physical altercations till I was 16 and almost got killed when I got in a fight with a guy on PCP..that was a wake up call.

The videogames don't make kids violent. The kids already have issues

I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in the stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Council-er or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who prefers a negative peace which is the absence of tension to a positive peace which is the presence of justice; who constantly says "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I can't agree with your methods of direct action;" who paternalistically feels he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by the myth of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait until a "more convenient season." -MLK Jr.

The majority of violent history happened before video games were even invented in the mid 20th century. Does this mean that there were ancient video games that drove Rome to invade the world?

Since violence is impossible without video games, this must be the case.

Can we just focus for once on the benefits of gaming?
How about it increases your hand/ eye coordination, it enhances your ability to react quickly, to filter important information better.
And some games even help to learn how choices can make a difference.

Video games cause nothing. Children are disgusting violent selfish untrained creatures that require decades of careful education and taming before they will stop doing bad things to one another. The reason why we see less and less of them achieving this state of humanity however does have something to do with video games, mobile phones and TV. But only so much as these allow parents to not constantly babysit their children and thus not give them the training they require. But by that logic schools cause violence as well.
Purpelia does not reflect my actual world views. In fact, the vast majority of Purpelian cannon is meant to shock and thus deliberately insane. I just like playing with the idea of a country of madmen utterly convinced that everyone else are the barbarians. So play along or not but don't ever think it's for real.

Video games help me relieve stress personally.

I relieve stress by tagging. It's my favorite past time when I get off work late at night and have nothing to do for a while. I spend most of my shift looking forward to closing time at 9:30 when I get out. From there on out its just me myself and I

Don’t forget the annual Pacomian Real-life HOI4 tournament, where the individual regions wage wars on one another and millions die. They have no friends or family, they’re just statistics that manifested into human form, just like all of us. They put the scores on the big board afterwards.

Actually that's probably why I'm not emotionally affected by mass shootings. I mean, yeah I hate them and think they're evil and monstrous but, I'm not emotional about it.

Me too. One of Stalin’s quotes (which is actually featured on the HOI4 loading screen) is “A single death is a tragedy; a million deaths is a statistic.”

That’s how HOI4 feels. That’s also sort of how mass shootings feel, at least to me.

In times like these people need something to blame, it’s how we cope with trauma. I don’t think it’s as simple as anti-gamer feelings, gaming is more popular now than ever and society has long gotten over the fear that games prime child psychopaths for school rampages. Unfortunately, mass shootings tend to be picked up and weaponised by liberals and conservatives for their own ends. Liberals blame guns and the right counter by blaming video games. Ideologues aside, most everyday Americans need someone or something to blame, it’s how people cope on a day to day level.

Too right videogames cause violence in children. When my younger brother figured out that the P1 controller was better there were many fights about it.

I had a 7 year age advantage so I didn't really bother me none.

That makes a lot of sense.

All we're getting are numbers, not much about the victims.

It also probably explains how White Supremacists don't care-they see others as statistics.

They in other words, are sociopaths and psychopaths.

The news operates in a way where the victims are just statistics while the murderer gets round the clock coverage on his whole life story and basically becomes a celebrity. That's gotta change
