Whenever I play Sim City 4, I have an unbelievable and uncontrollable urge to design cities with a hideous grid system and barely functioning highways.

Jokes aside, I'm sure that in limited cases, violent video games may be a detriment to the player (IE a player with a particular mental illness, social isolation, etc etc) - though overall, I'm inclined to side with the prevailing scientific consensus that violent video games have a near non-existent correlation with real-life violence.

The media: Video games cause violence!

Me who just trying to make a good factbook: :(

Also, video games does not cause violence. Like, did you stage a coup against the government after playing NS? No.
Did you took over the entire world after playing HOI4? No

The media is trying to get some attention, its basically their job

But the underlying message in Jennifer Government made me want to stage a coup against the Australian government after reading it, and I'm not even Australian!

Games can be good as allegories of RL issues, but as with any art there is a clear divide between that fiction and reality. I think that since it's a relatively new art form some folk are suspicious of it. It's the same with new styles of architecture, there are inevitably reactionary forces that heap scorn upon it and come up with all kinds of things in an attempt to discredit it.

I failed my way through highschool because I was busy playing Halo and WoW, so... I guess.

Then again, I should be studying for my ABO Exam and I'm playing Warframe instead, so it might just be a "me" problem.

No, put simply video games cause people to become no more violent than any other form of media and I have yet to read of the massive surge in crime following the creation of the printing press where innocent young Tommy's reading of the de Bello Gallico encouraged him to invade France.

You realize that the printing press helped lead to the Religious Wars of Europe.

I will grant you that it did contribute to demands for "reform" and the printing of non latin bibles however (and real free to correct me if I am wrong) I can't think of anyone off the top of my head who had a look at these new mass printed bibles and was then directly motivated towards violence. If anything the reformation of was an escalation of pre existing tensions between the church, nobility and rising middle class as well as gripes towards church corruption be it real or imagined.

Writing incited the most violence in history.

What did Luther do to split the churches? Write.

Luther's various papers are irrelevant to this discussion if was referring specifically to the printing press not Luther's antics.

It’s less the motivation towards violence as it was the ability to rapidly spread “heresy.” The biggest of which was Protestantism, and we all know where that went.

Thats a fair way of putting it however I stress that the printing press was a symptom and not the actual disease ( if you will pardon me comparing the reformation to a disease) and thus although it could be argued that it was a factor it was not the direct cause of dissatisfaction towards the church or a desire for war for that matter.

They're cute. I used to have a puppy sized rabbit we litter box trained and it just kinda hopped around the house. That little dude was legit.
