Nobody I know fears going anywhere because they might potentially be gunned down. Mass shootings are fairly uncommon compared to other unfortunate events.

I'm a teacher in Florida. The state that said "maybe let teachers carry guns?" as a solution to school shootings. It's a professional hazard we have to prepare for.

I'm also Jewish. And we've had two synagogue in this country in under a year. So now that's a concern when I go to worship.

When someone is being a colossal dumbass, then the police should arrest them, take them down to the station, and then phone someone to come and pick them up.

A couple hours sitting in the cells to let them reflect on how dumb they were, and then an almighty tongue-lashing from whoever comes to pick them up, should deter them from doing something as dumb in future.

His wife and his sister both told him it was a dumb idea before he drove down to WalMart. He did it anyway. A tongue-lashing is not going to convince him he was wrong.

Dude was a bit dumb for doing this so soon after a high profile shooting but not sure how this translates to “terroristic threat”. You could argue the body armor is somewhat sketchy but I don’t think open carry is considered terrorism.

It's the open carry plus front sling that makes the charge a possibility. I doubt it would have gotten anywhere if he'd just had a shoulder sling and no body armour.

That seems a bit weird to me. While it isn’t exactly common, it wasn’t unheard of for hunters to have their rifles in a front sling where I used to live.

Originally I thought he was arrested rightfully, because I thought he had motives to shoot. As I have been reading I wish I could change my vote to "Yes". I believe if it is legal to carry a firearm openly and he didn't hurt anyone this was perfectly legal and he was wrongfully arrested.

1) Still no, because there's nothing inherently dangerous about black people or hoodies, whereas body armour and guns, especially on the same person, is usually a sign that person is going to start shooting.

That really depends on where you live. I don’t know about you but I find it far more likely that a guy that resembles that is probably some paintball enthusiast. And yeah, I’m okay with betting my life on that. Why? Because I’m fairly certain that there are more people into paintball in my city than there are people into mass murder.

I was just calling it as I saw it, boss. Jersey's history outside of the thread had no bearing on the validity of their argument. Gormwood deliberately started targeting the poster. I didn't figure it'd be an issue to point it out.

But, to the actual topic, I wonder how hard prosecutors will pursue this if they decide to charge him. And what they'll decide to charge him with.
