While I wholly approve of celibacy, I am afraid that many of the people nowadays who are not dating or getting married are instead satisfying sexual urges through porn, hook-ups, or even prostitution. And while some experts might say that it is a result of economics and not simply moral decay, in any case the result is still highly concerning.

No they're not, sex is also at an all time low.

I would love to just take every porn site and shut it down for a year to see what would happen

I haven't really noticed a lack of dating. When I was a teen, I dated. So did most of my friends and most of them still do. Maybe we're outliers. I know I am in one respect, I got married much younger than most people do now.

I only knew 2 people in my HS friend group who dated, and they were dating each other...

I had a fiancee up till about two months ago in June when she randomly called off our engagement and separated from me, proceeding to go out with a guy who looks like a damn mall mannequin. My friend Tyler told me the news about the "new guy" and it did more of a number on me than anyone could imagine.

I think I'm just gonna go back to how I was in highschool. Screw monogamy, marriage, or any social norms. I'm done with that garbage. There's no way at this point im ever getting married because I can only imagine if I had actually married my last girlfriend and then everything fell through. I'm currently single and don't know when I'm gonna have a girlfriend or even random friend with benefits again. I really don't know what the future holds for me

It is the duty of all men to defeat the mediocrity within them, and be everything that a girl ever dreamed of. It's hard as hell, but it's what men ought to do. Today, I don't think most male humans really deserve the title of "man." In the minds of many, masculinity doesn't mean greatness and heroism, it means perversion and lust. Thus one group of men run towards this evil in the pursuit of manliness, while another group run away from real manliness in disgust of this evil. It's rather sad, and we live in a society who sorts men into one of these two groups. I challenge all men to break free of this, and to be real men.

The main problem here is that it is a product of some particular societies under some particular circumstances.

Nope to the former, yes to the latter. You have to admit that modern feminism is not that new at all. Instead it is very similar to the oldest family structure, namely matrilinealism/matrilocalism.

This. Men, most of you are people I would probably date irl if you just asked. I just want someone to talk to, hug, and go on dates with. I don’t need a hero. I need someone I can trust and love.

I completely agree. What would have been worse is if we actually had kids because then it would have made thing 10000000 times more uncomfortable and all around icky. There has never been a choice I was more glad to not make than not having children with her, because that's all I would need. I'm one of the few people I know besides my skinhead friend Josh who doesn't have kids and it feels good

I don't think people are as motivated by social pressures as much as they are by their own desires and convenience.

People had outlets for dealing with unfavorable social pressures, even back in the 1950s.

Strongly disagree on all counts. Sex has a few points, one of which my wife and I are hoping for soon. Dating is not inherently dangerous, nor absurd. I've never felt about a cat like I do my wife.
