It said dating was at an all time low, not that sexual activity was at an all time low. Lack of dating could be verified by decline in marriage certificates and/or lack of couples you see out in public. Lack of sexual activity is a bit more murky.

There is definitely less sex going on than in previous decades because technology enables a lot of people to become "shut ins" or to just not be in any situations where sex is even a possibility. Solitary activities are increasingly easier to do than group activities, unless someone is inclined to go outside. Not everyone of course, is going to be a nerd or stay indoors surfing the internet for most hours; but point is that more technology is enabling "not getting laid" to be a more common situation than ever was the case.

So are you suggesting that "getting laid" is a product of giving in to temptation?

I would love to ask her as we don't we can't no one knows who she is. It is an interesting story because the friend had insurance and everyone agreed the treatment should be covered under the insurance but they wouldn't because the insurance provider misunderstood the use of the drug in this treatment, at most that should have been an hour or two phone call to the insurance company to get straightened out with maybe a doctor's.

There in where my questions about the veracity of the story arise. You mean to tell me a law student couldn't navigate an insurance company's administrative procedure ? Not to mention the resources she had available as a law student. The administrative law professor, civil rights professor, or corporate law professor would have had a field that with this and would have gotten her the medicine overnighted to her within hours.

The friend is either the least qualified law student ever or the story is misleading if not outright false. Fluke's friend either made a sob story up, or Fluke elected to repeat a Georgetown urban legend as though she witnessed it directly.

Not sure if "using one's connections to get out of a situation that will nonetheless continue to afflict many others if one doesn't do something about it more generally" is the honourable and decent thing to do...

That is only a minor aspect. A big part of it I'd say, is being willing to take risks. To expose oneself to the possibility of rejection and judgements from other people. You of course aren't going to get anywhere with anyone, if you don't approach them to begin with and put in the work and effort to make things happen.

You have to have game or to work on yourself and learn enough to acquire some, if you don't have any already. How well you can talk to strangers is arguably more within your control than your looks. But not everyone truly can be successful in that sense. Just that it is more possible, if you can get yourself to a point where you have what it takes to win.
