Hey, you yourself said these societies are dysfunctional as a result so clearly it isn't right

Well it is both natural and awful. What I don't want is simply treating this as an anomaly when it is in fact basically regression.

I think if more people went to church or were otherwise involved in organized religion this would be less of a problem. Organized religion has historically played a very important role in building community.

What better purpose could a man have to live for, anyway?

That’s not a hero, that’s a human who puts effort into dating. But women should put in the effort too. Men need support as well, especially in today’s society. Any human being should be empathetic to their SO. That’s just common sense.

Of course I have no problem with a woman being there for a man. I simply have a problem with a man not feeling obligated to comfort his girlfriend whenever she needs it. I also have a problem with the insidious double standard that if a woman has sex with multiple men, she's called a hoe, whereas if a man has sex with multiple women, people think of him as more of a man for it. I think that a man having sex with multiple women is a sign of great cowardice, in that he is afraid to fulfill his obligation towards one or all of these women, while a woman having sex with multiple men is often in our modern society simply in search of a man who will truly be a man, even if she doesn't say so.

Christianity is part of the issue in the west. It encourages unhealthy expectations for relationships. I would encourage philosophy as a basis for relationships and community instead.

I think that an unhealthy expectation for a relationship is one in which one settles for anything less than strict monogamy for life. Accepting anything less is underselling yourself in a big way.

Maybe alcohol but that’s about it, it’s not like they had a good amount of social safety nets back then.

Social pressures are good for reducing things like teen pregnancy, drunk driving, and licentiousness.

And no, people back in the 1950s had the option to move to large cities, where many counterculture lifestyles were moderately tolerated as long as things were discrete.

But that really didn't affect the vast majority of people.

Yet some social pressures can be good, like drunk driving is bad, teen pregnancy is bad, murder is bad, etc. though some can be bad like expecting people to be married and have kids by a certain age with no regard for the wishes of who’s expected to get married and have kids.

That’s still not a guaranteed solution to social pressures.

Tbh latinos in NYC are basically black, even the ones who don't look black. I mean for starters Puerto Rican and Dominicans have a lot of African genes but beyond that a lot of Nuyoricans basically speak AAVE, listen to rap, play basketball and live in areas with a lot of black folks.

We can do simple philosophy without Christianity. I work with people who teach stoicism to prisoners, often people with low IQ and mental health issues. They receive it well, and introduce ideas they read in Aurelius and Epictetus to their fellow inmates.

Using cheerleaders as a bar standard for society shows how much we've fallen. Also, replace "black bf" with Latino, since that's how I saw it in suburban NYC.

Yep. Barbarian - Fellahin spectrum.

Neko Law: In any society with two tribes, A and B. If A is more barbarian than B then A tends to be poorer and more violent than B. Without any socioeconomic pressure AMBF relationships will be more common than BMAF relationships.

We are mutant Japanese kitty cats that have taken over a post-human world which was destroyed due to human hatred towards other humans.

First of all, the expectation that if she’s suspected of cheating, she’ll have to drink a potion to get an abortion in front of her husband and a levite.

First of all, the potion was not an abortifacient. Secondly, I do not think even Orthodox Jews practice that ritual nowadays.

2. I agree, but that belief stems from the double standard your pedaling that men have to be everything a woman wants while women just have to exist and be there.
3. This doesn't make what your claiming any less backwards or sexist, it just shows a different type of sexism.

If it's sexist to believe that a man has an obligation to treat his girlfriend better than she treats him, than I suppose I can't escape the label.

Relationships should be equal partnerships unless talked about beforehand or during, so yeah, it is sexist.

You're heart's in the right place (Partners should treat each other well), but putting all that responsibility onto the male isn't going to help the relationship. He's her partner, not her therapist.
