I can't find it, but there was a map I saw awhile back that posited a world where the pan-Germanic movements of the 19th century was actually led by the Anglo-Saxon countries, and the result was basically a US/British Empire superstate that first absorbed the Dutch Empire, and then Scandinavia, and then finally Germany itself.

And given that the majority of Germanic people are not Germans, it makes sense. Why should they have the claim on being the center of Germanium? Historically, it makes much more sense for the Anglo-Saxons or Dutch to be seen as the center of the Germanic world.

It's crazy how some things that were so taken for granted a generation ago are now taboo.

Societal engineering that's what. You only need a generation of school children to turn things on their head.

I don't know if social engineering or the long march through the institutions had much to do with White Australia becoming a taboo. I think it was more the fact that it was no longer a politically or economically viable policy after 1945.

Naturally I do not long for the days of White Australia but many people don't realise that a key reason why Australia has led the world in wages, working conditions and benefits is due to the fact that politicians and unions did not want to import an underclass of cheap labour from China and the Pacific Islands.
