You could also, imo, make an argument that Japan was worse because while Germany did industrialize genocide they at least had an end goal with it. The atrocities committed by Imperial Japan were just.. wanton.

Without a doubt, but it's not meant to be whataboutism. I'll give Hitler credit where credit is due, as for example the man was serious about not using Chemical weapons at all even at the end when the Reich was collapsing; the Japanese were using those from 1942 onward against Chinese civilians.

It was a campaign targeting Chinese people for killing. Sometimes you don't have to call something genocide for it to be obvious. Nevertheless, there are absolutely books written on Japanese genocidal policies. The Japanese war crimes are widely studied as a part of genocide programs in academic settings, as an example, here's a book I have on my computer, which I downloaded from Yale's Genocide Studies Program:

I don't think that's the kindest assessment. I believe she's wrong on this issue but she has been insightful on many others - even when we disagree. I've been a touch aggressive lately, but I still value respecting and commending others where it is due. And Torra does articulate left-wing perspectives with a degree of excellence and skill.

It's a tongue-in-cheek critique of Western tepidness in the face of continued Chinese militarization. And there's no reason that China couldn't win a hypothetical war in fifty years under the present circumstances so long as the government manages to retain enough support to cow its critics into silence.
