The economy is developing rapidly. Because, despite the popular accusation, the middle-class doesn't "sit" on money. They invest it and spend it on commodities that begin gradually improving the average standard of living. Nigerian students are also becoming a fixture in universities across the West, especially in technical and scientific fields. They have a mixed-market economy. There are still a lot of problems, specifically with groups like Boko Haram and fundamentalism in the northern states, but the country is set to become a regional power in West Africa.

I have no particular objections to parliamentary democratic socialism in the tradition of George Orwell and Clement Attlee. It's the accompanying ideological baggage that I take issue with.
