Maybe not industries per se, but I would nationalize YouTube and Twitter.

I don't know what he thinks but it is kind of obvious.

Finance, Pharma, Natural Resources, parts of agriculture, parts of manufacture, parts of construction, parts of energy production, parts of media production. And to ensure Universal Healthcare with parts of that sector as well. Then end all cash-based welfare and create/subsidize staple goods of basic consumption, simple food items, simple housing, access to infrastructure (communications and transport) for people who are "unemployable" but can become National Volunteers (modern serfs) in order to not let a Boom-Bust-cycle crash the economy.

If you don't understand why this sets a dangerous precedent for your faith, then there's no reason to take you seriously.

Oh, I haven't been taking you very seriously for a while so feel free to do whatever you want.

You clearly know very little about our religion aside from what /r/Atheism posts, and now you're telling us what we're going to become in the future? Oh come off it.

The nature of the Old Covenant was different than the New Covenant that has been established by Christ which is defined by the Gospels, the rest of the New Testament, and the tradition of the Church. We're defined by the teachings of Christ, and live according to the morality He taught. And there's not really room for genocide in that so don't worry your little head.

Oh, come on. The Old Testament is not nearly that bloody.

These excerpts are from Chapter 10 of the Book of Joshua alone:

    10:10
"And the Lord discomfited them before Israel, and slew them with a great slaughter at Gibeon, and chased them along the way that goeth up to Bethhoron, and smote them to Azekah, and unto Makkedah."

    10:19-10:20
"And stay ye not, but pursue after your enemies, and smite the hindmost of them; suffer them not to enter into their cities: for the Lord your God hath delivered them into your hand. And it came to pass, when Joshua and the children of Israel had made an end of slaying them with a very great slaughter, till they were consumed, that the rest which remained of them entered into fenced cities."

    10:28
"And that day Joshua took Makkedah, and smote it with the edge of the sword, and the king thereof he utterly destroyed, them, and all the souls that were therein; he let none remain: and he did to the king of Makkedah as he did unto the king of Jericho."

In fact, the phrase "smote it with the edge of the sword, and all the souls that were therein; he let none remain" get repeated several times from hereon out, describing the fall of several cities in the same manner: massacre.

In summary:

    10:40
"So Joshua smote all the country of the hills, and of the south, and of the vale, and of the springs, and all their kings: he left none remaining, but utterly destroyed all that breathed, as the Lord God of Israel commanded."

But the Old Testament is not that bloody, ok.

There is a lot of violence in the Bible, sure, but you have to remember that at the same time that God calls for the Israelites to fight, He also calls in the New Testament for all people to embrace mercy and truth. In Galatians St. Paul mentions that under God, Gentile and Jew do not exist as distinctions. All people are the same and equal under God. So why then does God order the Israelites to fight in the OT, while acknowledging the equality and humanity of all people in the NT? Because He had to establish His kingdom to bring true freedom to ALL nations.

Many nations the Israelites defied worshipped rather horrid gods, such as Moloch and the Mesopotamian pantheons. At one point in the Bible, Israel is overtaken by a king (I forget his name) who sacrifices his own firstborn child to Moloch. A baby. He throws him into a fire. This sort of crime is what made God angry against those who worshipped false gods. But He also spent a lot of time having to correct the Israelites, if you remember. He allowed them to wander in the desert for 40 years. He allowed them to be taken by Egypt in the first place, and by Babylon, among others. So both the foreign powers that worshipped false gods and the Israelites who continually strayed, worshipped false gods, and blasphemed needed to come back to God. Everyone’s salvation came when God allowed Himself to suffer the most terrible violent act of all, crucifixion.

Ultimately a lot of the forceful language of the Bible is to drive home the fact that God is the creator who has power over everything, and while He has wrath and holds unlimited power, He wants nothing more than the salvation of all people. He despised false gods and sin, because they drive us away from His plan for our salvation.

I believe (and my faith has led me to this conclusion, by the way) that other peoples' dignity should be respected and therefore I do support personal freedoms.

Maybe not to the extent liberals do, but more so than Kowani by far.

I think us Christians are rather sensitive to this. I can't count the number of times atheists and anti-theists suddenly pretend caring about Jesus and his teachings to accuse Christians of not being good enough Christians.
