I think it's self-evident that having a greater understanding of the world in which one lives constitutes an advance in one's development.

In a perfect world where there was unlimited time and unlimited resources, I think children should learn about literally everything in the world today, children should learn every language, every culture, every country, the history of every nation and every community, and yes, every religion out there. So explain why learning about the tenets of Islam is so precious and so important it justifies an entire class dedicated to learning about Islam and not all those other things I listed above.
