You get a boy, you sell them for money. You get a girl and you have to pay someone to take them under the traditional Indian dowry system.

I dont know how they do it in india, but in the states the wand is fairly short reach and the tech and the parents can see the screen during the exam. It would be difficult to not let the parents see.

Well that would be an issue as well. You would need the machine configured in such a way the woman cannot see the screen. Difficult with the standard machine.

Rome was literally brought down because the Roman authorities sold illegal migrants food at extortionate rates until they had no money left, then tried to sell those migrants dog meat in exchange for giving their children over as sex slaves, before they'd even disarmed the migrants.
