Which again, points to this whole thing being blown completely out of proportion and the solution being to simply ask. Makes me think of the buzzfeed video where they “manspreaded” and filled up like 3 chairs. Man spreading doesn’t take up a huge amount of space, and anyone who is doing it to the point that they’re touching you is spreading more than necessary most likely and you could politely ask them to move a little and they’ll probably do it. It’s not like this is specially unique or simply a man thing: sometimes I’ve seen people occupying a seat with a bag or putting it by their feet in such a way the footspace/personal space of person sitting beside them is invaded. Larger individuals sometimes have difficulty keeping their body’s in their own space and majorly invading personal space. Don’t often see the same people all up in arms about man spreading saying anything about where you put your backpack or overweight individuals.

This is a stupid first world problem and complete distraction from real issues in society. Nicely ask the person to adjust or take a chill pill.

Yes, I already stated as much a while ago, considering I don't live there. Again, I never saw anything like that during my stay and use of the system, nor have I had any issue regarding other systems of people immediately turning violent when asked to move.

Ever think that there are other reasons that are not just caused by people being asked to move?

Now I know you don't ride NYC Transit regularly. They actually had to put up signs on all trains and buses reminding people that assaulting drivers and conductors is a felony punishable by 7 years in prison.

Think about why that would be necessary.

Let me put it this way: until three years ago, it was not seen as a necessity to post that on public transport, nor was it deemed necessary to raise the punishment from a misdemeanor to a felony.
